Video Game Awards 2010

Post » Tue Dec 28, 2010 9:04 pm

Last year I made a thread for the 2009 VGAs, and it turned out to be pretty fun. When the awards went live, we filled two topics with discussion of both the games being announced there, and the awards being given out. So I figured I'd make a topic for the 2010 VGAs.

This show is popular not because of the awards but because of the exclusive announcements that occur there. Last year we saw the reveal of Arkham City (then called Arkham Asylum 2), True Crime: Hong Kong, Star Wars: Force Unleased 2, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Crackdown 2, Medal of Honor, and a few others. We saw about 11 games announced and saw the first bit of footage of Halo Reach. So even if you don't care about the awards, it wouldn't hurt to tune in to see all the new announcements.

So far we know that this year we'll be learning the identity of the new Bioware game seen in http://www.spike.com/video/vga-planet-teaser/3499776, and http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/12/04/murder-your-maker-confirms-prototype-sequel.aspx (which is almost certainly Prototype 2). We'll also be getting a new trailer for Resistance 3. There will surely be many other announcements as well.

The VGAs are happening now:

Sounds interesting. I'll definitely try tuning in. If not, I'll just stick around this topic and find out what's being said!

I may tune in it really depends upon how I feel about it. Was kind of disheartened with X-Play after their like 4th or 5th season and stopped watching these rating shows all together.

I won't be watching. I'm not interested in the lame award show or waiting for short trailers.

I'm pretty sure X-Play makes the picks themselves, though (although G-Phoria is voted on by the community). The VGAs are open to vote.

Speaking of which, when can I vote in the VGAs? I've been checking the website a couple of times a week since hearing about the VGAs.

:unsure2:

I don't know :P

Like I said in the Speculation Thread, there's always a possibility, but I personally don't think it's going to happen. I'd be happy to be proven wrong though.

I'll probably just watch the trailers/read about the announcements on Joystiq or something. I'm sure they'll be covering it. I watched it last year, and half the time it was just nerds cheering at Olivia Wilde. :P

Might come about the forums and see what won GOTY, but knowing how gaming is now a days, Call of Duty is gonna win.
Unless it has news on TES V, I could care less about the show.

I'm not sure if it could come out ever since Pandemic and Free Radical are in the grave.

Maybe Bioware has it!!!

I'll be watching mainly in the hopes that TES V will be announced. Even though that's highly unlikely.
Oh, and I hope Mass Effect 3 gets announced as well. :)

Unable to watch, I'm afraid. That is, unless it's before 8pm or after 11pm.

Isn't Mass Effect 3 already more or less announced? I mean they've been talking about how it's a Mass Effect trilogy since the start...

Obviously yes, Mr. Negative Nancy. But a "announcement" or "reveal" would mean they start putting out info, trailers, etc on the game. :P
I'm particularly interested to see if Garrus returns as a squad mate.

Black Ops map packs are gonna be announced. And they're gonna be released the same time they are announced. That'd be jokes

Red dead would probably win GOTY. I really hope they finally announce a new GTA game.

It's most certainly my game of the year.

I didn't even think about the possible announcement of a new GTA. That would be fantastic.

Apparently Mass Effect 2 and Starcraft 2 are going head to head for Game of the Year. Thats so unfair, I love both games!

But I think I would pick SC 2 in the end.
