Video: The Real Mojave Wasteland

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 1:00 pm

Hi everyone. I'm an editor for a YouTube show. We recently went to Las Vegas to shoot some stuff and I convinced everyone to go check out some of the locations from Fallout New Vegas. I had been to Primm before since it where a lot of people stop coming or going from Las Vegas and also I had been to Jean once way back in the day when the Nevada Landing casino was still around. Everything else was new for me and it was a real trip standing in front of the actual Pioneer Saloon. So I hope you guys enjoy this video. The camera work is a bit shaky since it was really windy that day and also the cameraman was shivering due to the extreme cold (it began to snow after we filmed this). Skip the first 30 seconds or so if you want to skip the intro and get right to the Mojave Wasteland.

Locations visited:
-Goodsprings, NV
-Jean, NV
-Primm, NV
-Nipton, CA

If anyone ever wants to visit any of these locations yourself, I'd be happy to provide directions.

I never knew so many places weren't so fictional.

Awesome video, nice to be given an insight to the inspiration for the game.

The Pioneer Saloon was kind of intimidating since everyone was wearing their biker club jackets. Being a couple of geeks there because we saw it in Fallout, we felt a little out of place (I was wearing a scarf!). We didn't go inside since it was way too early to drink for us. We didn't want to go inside, film some stuff, and leave without buying anything especially since everyone was already looking at us wondering what we were filming. If you want to see what it looks like inside, Google "Pioneer Saloon". They have some pictures on their website and it looks just like FNV.
