Viewing other player characters/equipment

Post » Fri Mar 12, 2010 11:12 pm

So, with all the customizations, it got me thinking of an option that you can view other players characters up close and their weapons that they customized. Certainly during gameplay it will be tough to really see what the other ones look like and i dont know about anyone else, but i'd really like to see how creative ppl get.

I'm sure SD will have a Brink playercard like Halo or CoD, it only makes sense.

And if they don't have it on release, it's possible to put it in with a patch, if the community requests it.

If you watch the cutscènes in multiplayer, you'll closely see every character of the people in your team. Don't know about the other team though. SD said that they really focused players on seeing characters because they and the players put a lot of effort in them.

Yeah from all the cut scenes which were shown.... which was one ATM you can clearly see all the little details of your team. Man it must be an epic feeling to see your person be the main guy in a cut scene. :disguise:

Well, you will see those avatars in detail who are selected as the main characters, I guess. There will always be the guys who just sit in a corner and get up once the main character tells them to.

I would assume that such things are based on the players who do the most in the game, get the most points ala tf2, or just the most exp.

I personally think that being able to customize your character literally from head to toe negates the need for a player card. If they do, simply a background, something you manually type in and your name.

I was thinking more along the lines of Halo's playercard. Where it shows your emblem and stats (and yes I know theres no stats in Brink) on one side and your character on the other.

The playcard seems like a good idea. Shows a pic of their character, both resistance and security skins for it, and their equipped abilities/weapons. Just that little something extra.

Unless you're supposed to make a different username or ID for each of your characters, I imagine your profile would have to be a gallery of all your characters.

What would be cool is if before loading/cutscenes if the "lobby" had a kinda tf2 logo (you know all the classes standing around looking awesome) screen where your teams characters stood around in their areas (like if you were playing security you would be standing near the founder's tower or something like that) and to see details on the person you clicked on their character. And when someone joined they would be added to the screen too. Also with this they could have the option to switch and look at the enemy team. I think would be an epic way to take a good look at all the players creativity.

As I recall they do this during the pregame load. Only with your team though.

I wouldn't mind an armory like thing, like with what WoW had implemented. You see a 3D model of one person's character, currently equipped weapon, and abilities, and maybe a live feed (i.e: So-and-so has failed the mission on Container City, or So-and-So has completed Stage 1 of Challenge 3). I'd like that.

Clans profiles could utilize that too.
