I was thinking of creating a fanfic where they're conducting similar simulation of Vault 101 with a few exceptions. The inhabitants are decadents from military (they basically combined the arm forces into "one branch" to simplified chain of command), and the purpose is to see results of indefinite isolation with everyone is considered to be part of the military. Note it's not a Sparta like society, due in part because there are no slaves and not everyone is train specifically for combat (such as engineering, medic instructors etc) and it's not like anyone is going to die in combat anytime soon. I was thinking of having the infantry trained for combat and survival training by using virtual reality machines.

With that out of the way my basic question is that I was wondering is it possible for another vault to have a virtual reality simulator or is it unique to vault 112? I know it was built for "Betty", so I don't know how unique it is. I already know that people die multiple times and only Chinese assault really killed them thanks to "Betty" disabling of the fail safe by request.

I don't see the problem with creating a new vault with its own VR unit. It's a fanfic after all. Go nuts.
