Virus Help

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:32 pm

Okay, I've been having troubles with my computer for about a week now. I have done several virus scans but nothing has come up. However, after exploring my processes I discovered 4 files that I could not remove, could not open the file location and could not look at the properties.

I googled these files and I figured out they are viruses, however, since I have no idea where they are on my computer, and search results of my computer are coming up with nothing, I wanted to see if I could get some help on how to remove these files/processes.

1. csrss.exe
2. winlogon.exe(might not be a virus)
3. atieclxx.exe
4. RtVOsd.exe

any help on how to remove these files would be appreciated. They have caused several problems, Including a blue screen that appeared last night.

1. Probably a good idea to disconnect your computer from the Internet - possibly do more research on the viruses before you begin this step.
2. Reboot into Safe Mode and use something like Malwarebytes / your virus scanner to try and get rid of them.
3. Hope it works.

Well I did a scan with malwarebytes and Avast yesterday and they found nothing :( I'm trying to find removal instructions but most aren't making much sense.

Are you absolutely sure those are viruses? Boot up in safe mode and run a virus scan then. If you remove something that's needed you might have to reformat

csrss.exe could be Windows Client Server Runtime process

The atieclxx.exe could be a program of ATi Graphic card drivers

RtVOsd.exe could mean KRealtek OSD for Volume/Mute Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

If you have ATI for video card and Realtek for sound I wouldn't worry much.

I do, and its making me less worried about those files but more worried about what it could be.

My web browser has been running extremely slow along with winamp, and every game I try to play.

I had a similar problem with my netbook. Someone used a hotspot to plant a trojan on my computer.Sadly, it wasn't as easy as getting rid of the virus files as it corrupted actual system files.

Open up your task manager, check what % your CPU is running at. If you find its running at 100% constantly, you may have a problem.

Go through your process list and find your top 5 biggest system users and report back here!

Maybe the inside of your computer needs a good cleaning and the blue screen is from overheating. Take the side off and see if it's dusty in there. If so buy a can of compressed air and give the thing a blast.

Thats a common file to get infected. You might want to do some research on it.
