No visible weapons when holstered!

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 1:03 am

Yeah I miss this too.I think it has nothing to do with can't do it. If you throw the weapon on the floor you see it with all it's mods.

Anyway in most games when your weapons are holstered/sheathed they're really just floating a few inches away from your body with no visible connections. How realistic is that?

to the point, how about at least just a handle of the weapon in holster, then "pop" it when raising? seems easy enough and would give the appearance of the weapon. all we want is the "Look" !

btw.. Dogmeat and other companions never display anything they are given. would be hilarious to see the "space monkey" doll riding my dog's back!

Miss seeing my rifle on my back when I go to 3rd person. Understandable seeing the modifications we can do now but I hope a mod makes it happen even if more like generic image then defined image of weapon you have equipped.

You can equip them with certain things. If you give them stuff, then go over to their inventory and highlight specific things you'll see an equip option pop up if they can equip it. I have Dogmeat wearing a red bandanna. I have also heard that he'll (she'll?) wear welding goggles but I havent tried that. You can do this with all followers AND settlers.

yeah I got to equip only Dog related items. I had him carry a full raider PA suit parts. but it isn't modeled on his back like a pack mule..

You do not have as many options for clothing and weapons in that series that changes the scaling. Also in FO4 you have body scaling as well.

It's not impossible at all, it's just impractical. All the weapons and their variations exist as items on the ground and as third person models. I think it's mainly due to clipping, they just thought that many weapon/mod combos clipped horribly and the time it would take to fix was better spent elsewhere. It's a very common reason devs do this sort of thing.

Know what else is immersion breaking? Carrying 250lbs of items without a backpack or pockets.

250? I think I'm up to 380. I'm just surprised that power armor doesn't add all that much extra, something like up to 410. I suppose it's carrying all it's own weight though, so the extra is on top of that.

Agreed. I thought games were supposed to become - more - technologically advanced, not less. This reverts back to 2002 Morrowind, when weapons did not show on our characters.

What makes me think that this was intended to be a feature, is that an NPC in Diamond City commented that I had a nice piece. How did he know if my gun isnt visible?

Honestly i dont care if it clips, Beth. Just patch it in.

Yea, but walking around with a pistol on your belt and rifle on a back looks cool as hell. Now in 3rd person you look like just some unarmed dude on a Sunday stroll.

I think you're onto something. Morrowind also had layered armor, right? I think the combination of different armors and weapons in FO4 caused some ugly clipping problems so they just decided to take it out.

Probably! I feel like games are being watered down a bit these days.
