I'm sure everyone is aware of this but damn! i just feel like its necessary for players to be immersed in the game, it just looks like hes pulling it out of his ass!

out of all the immersion breaking issues in this game- this is on the bottom lol :/
yes, it'd be good to see the equipped weapon on the character's back and maybe pistols on the belt
I wondered this exact thing myself, and even funnier, I said the exact same thing(that it looks like they are pulling it from their butt). Not sure why an aspect of the game that has been around for several games would suddenly be taken out, just so it can make holstering look even more ignorant . Kind of makes me curious about needs, which were introduced in New Vegas during hardcoe mode, why are there no needs for food, drink, and sleep in this game(at the very least in survival mode - which doesn't seem much different than medium difficulty).
Yes, I would say that I miss the holstering look, but more importantly, I miss the need for sleep and drink. I mean, why carry that stuff (with all the other junk I'm picking up) if I don't need it right?
Think only Resident evil games going back maybe 10 or 15 years are able to show weapons on a player, its very difficult and expensive to do and can cost millions to add a weapon to someones back or legs which Resident Evil does.
It looks like its an A-B state right now, basically either everything as it or nothing has it.
and since power armor and weapons are now collideable objects in combat,,,it may be that haveing you grab a gun in combat was causing... issues. . ..
Maybe I'm one of the few people with this opinion, but I really don't mind it. If you play in first person you don't notice and I already thought it was immersion breaking enough when you would switch weapons and the new one would magically pop onto your back.
The only way to truly solve this issue in my mind is to limit you to a couple of big guns and a sidearm. You can strap the sidearm onto your hip or on your belt, and then have the bigger weapons slung across your back in an X pattern. There would be the typical floating issue, but it would look cool and make sense. Then we reassign the control pad to equip each weapon and maybe save the last direction that isn't used for stim paks. This way, you could swap weapons on the fly and you would be able to see them at all times. You can still carry as many as you want, but if you want to swap one into a new equipped slot, you have to wait to be out of combat and change the weapon in the pip boy interface.
I feel like this solution is the best because it lets us see our weapons and limits the immersion breaking, and it adds a layer of strategy to weapon selection prior to fighting. All of that said, if they never do patch it in, I'd be perfectly fine.
Guiz, not carrying around a big sack full of 300 lbs. of junk is really breakin my mershins in Fallout 3, NV AND 4!!
It isn't a matter of looking right with armor.
It's a matter of the huge number of weapon variations and the impossibility to show each and every modification of every weapon on characters. The game is already 30 GB, after all.
Regardless, this is certainly not needed at all and has nothing to do with immersion. As was pointed out, you might as well ask to see the huge sack carrying all the junk, weapons, food, armor, etc... let alone ammo! There are many things that could be added for immersion (e.g., sleep required, eating and drinking possibly) but this isn't one of them.
30gb is small wasnt wolfenstein like 50 or 60gb something like that?
It was disappointing discovery for me as well, but i think they ran out of money and had to release it. Hopefully the GECK/Creation Kit will be released soon. So much to do.
im from new zealand
i wrote it in golems voice haha
I'd love to see my badass modded weapons. That's part of having all those cool guns, I think. Really can't believe they cut that.
^This.
I carry a standard loadout of six weapons. It makes no difference to me that the one I have equipped is invisible because the other five, and my 200 pounds of bones, toasters and desk fans are not visible, and that's fine by me.
Wouldn't surprise me if it's down to things like body sliders and power amour.
I think folk are well aware and it's a minor thing...

It is likely due to so many mods that can alter the looks and size of the weapon as well as mods on armor pieces as well. Bethesda likely got quite a bit of complaints about items clipping on armor/clothing and with the way mods are now on gear just makes the issue much more difficult to make it work
