VISIONS; my game idea

Post » Fri Apr 04, 2014 9:55 am

Now, this is all I have, an idea. I will not be creating any 3-D images or anything, only drawings, directing, and making ideas. That's all. If you want to support my idea, just tell me in the comments or message me. It would help a lot. I really want Bethesda studios to help make this idea, since I believe they can master such an idea in the best way possible. From design and game play, Bethesda can do this. Let's get this popular so it can get noticed, and hopefully made into a video game.

VISIONS is a horror game about a boy named Mike. Him and his little brother, Mark, were sent to their grandma's docks for the whole summer, which Mike greatly disagrees with, but has no choice but to eat raw fish for dinner, have to deal with a spoiled little brother, and get yelled at by a crazy grandma for the whole entire summer. During his 'vacation', he hears a call behind him, and when he turns around, he suddenly wakes up in a new world! With chains attached to his wrists, dangling from the roof, naked to his underwear, and bleeding stitches trailing down his forehead, bald, he escapes the chains, and must find out where he is, why he's here, and what's happened to his family...

The game is playable on Xbox, Playstation and PC. My own little company is called TPOD, short for Troy's Portal of Doom. You can read my blog at the bottom of the page. The game is meant to be dark and creepy so the player in afraid practically the whole time. I will upload game controls and some concept art later, for now, I want to explain some game mechanics and important things to know about the game.

The main objective(s) is / are to find your family members, Mom, Mark and Grandmother, to find a way out of this new world, and find out what's going on, as a mystery slowly forms in this nightmare of a place. The game is not what you call 'open-world', you can navigate through locations from time to time, but only sometimes, after you hit that 'point of no return'.

You are no such fighter in this game. The only thing you can do is hide and wait for the monsters to go away. Speaking of monsters, there are at least nine monsters you will encounter in the game, all of them have a different way to beat them or find their weakness. The nine main monsters the player will encounter are The Jock, The Watcher, The Quake, The Ghost, The Spider, The Fish, The Dog, The Jester and The Vision. These will appear from time to time as obstacles that get in your way and make you run in fear. Each enemy has a weakness, and you have to discover the weakness to escape from it's clutches without fighting it with any weapons. You can hide in closets, dark corners (if the enemy can't see in the dark), under beds, almost anywhere you can find, you can try and see if it tricks the beast. Some enemies aren't so easy to hide from, so be careful.

The environment almost the entire time you play the game is just castle walls and cages. The whole game is practically a dark palace, and the only light source you have is torches you can find around the area. You can pick them up to light you way, be caution, they can lose their flame sometimes, and there is only one way to bring the torch back to life; light it with another torch, get a different torch, or have no light at all!

From time to time in the game a monster will come up that you never get to fight called The Eye. The Eye will come up sometimes in the story and look at you. If you look at it, you enter a new world that shows you what will happen in the future, so you can solve some puzzles. But, here's the catch; you have to find the answer while running away from a deformed doppelganger of yourself, The Vision. If The Vision catches you, then you pop up right back in the world you were in before, and you have to solve the puzzle for yourself. If you find the answer, then you will know how to solve the puzzle (if you pay attention) and you will go back to the real world. These are used as small 'mini-games' that the player can use to their advantage. I am not sure about this feature, however, it may be removed.

That is all I shall talk about for now. if you have any suggestions or feedback on my idea, tell me in the comments and support me if you want! It would really help me out!

By the way, this is also a comic I will be showing off at the September Portland ComiCon this year! See you there!

No offense, but odds are, your idea will be laughed out of the company front door. You'll need more than just 'an idea', you'll need some serious projections of sales and design and expected budgeting and so on. This idea just feels, well, very generic and I just don't see it being marketable. Not trying to ruin your dream here, but I'm not going to lie and say "BEST IDEA OF 2014!" either.

I'm more scared of http://i.imgur.com/JD4RKht.jpg than doppelgangers.
