I've skyrim on the 360 it's really bugging me that I've visited the college but it hasn't been removed from the miscellaneous quests list. Is there something I'm supposed to do ??

I think it goes away only when you actually join it, that is prove your skill to Farada.

Did you actually join the College? If you didn't, that's probably never going away.

Welcome to the forums. As previously mentioned actually joining should remove it. Don't let misc quests getting stuck in your list worry you too much, as you get further into the game you will find that a few get stuck there even though you have completed them. It's just a bug with the game, irritating but nothing you can do about it on the 360.

One character I have is Arch Mage of the CoW and she still has "Visit the College of Winterhold" in her journal. For what it's worth.

yep its 1 of those misc objectives that may or may not disappear.. i think one way to avoid it getting stuck is to go to the CoW and actually join it as soon as you get that objective and not take any other quests inbetween that time but even then it may get stuck
