If Vlad the Impaler was a TES character...

What race would he be? If you ask me, I'd say Breton. Why? Well, if we keep this in mind:

Imperials = Romans

Nords = Germanics (Viking is a profession, people. Sorry)

Bretons = Europeans

Redguards = Turks, Moors...

Khajiit = Saracens?

Argonians = Native Americans?

Dunmer = Mongolian?

Bosmer = Dunno.

Altmer = Byzantines?

Orcs = Dunno.

Having said that, I agree with Breton.

Idk. Dracula would probably be a mix of Breton and Redguard in my mind.

Yeah - I wouldn't say these were very accurate. "European" is too broad a term, for one - you prove that yourself, Germanics are used to describe Nords - Germanics are a European group comprised of Germans, English, Dutch and Nordic people, it has diversity even within that group, and you figured they were distinct enough from other Europeans to use to describe another race.

You can't really narrow down each race to a certain culture. Dunmer might appear exotic, but their religious practice of worshiping a Triune, who's God-hood was achieved part by stealing it and part by priests being creative with history is eerily similar to the dissenting views of Atheists (And also, scholars of Islam) on Catholicism. I wouldn't say the Altmer were even close to the Byzantines - who have the same culture as, and would have identified as, Roman.

Certainly, I can understand hoe you reached these conclusions. After all, BGS developers don't seem to spare too much thought forsaking use of really unique lore - citing excuses like 'We all love LOTR and GOT so we decided to clone that'. They haven't demonstrated being the best custodians of the lore, leading you to make premature judgments. In short - I personally disagree, but I see where you're coming from.

Very impressive.

He'd be an Argonian.

Spoiler
If you took that seriously....Jeez man

I think he'd be a Breton or a Nord since Harkon kinda gave me those "I like to impale butts" vibes.

By that logic, since Vlad was Romanian, wouldn't he logically be more imperial, given the Roman colonisation of that region?

Never mind the fact that the obsession with constantly linking TES races with real ones is really pointless...

I'm going for Imperials for look-wise but as for what TES culture fits best into his culture it's hard to say. Slightly off topic but I've always thought if Bethesda really is done with Imperial Empires in the games then perhaps the Imperials can go through a culture change and stop being psuedo-romans. Romanian/Wallachian culture or Slavic culture is what I would want them to change into asthetic wise.

Cyrodiil was initially concieved as being a lot more unique - BGS, especially Todd Howard, seem to prefer accessibility over unique lore and settings, given their DandD backgrounds. That's fine for some, and certainly it's lead them to hugely profitable horizons, but personally i'd like to see the original lore restored.

Take a look at the sketches http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-first-edition-cyrodiil for what I mean. This was the initial conception of Imperials.

As to Vlad - if he was going to be anything, I'd say he'd have been a Chimer cultist of Meridia.
