http://gofree.com/download/Video/Media-Players/vlcmediaplayer.php?gclid=CMSq-c-S06cCFQprKgodnxc1_w

so I would install it but 1st it wants me to eitehr install eevrything or select if i wnat yahoo as my homepage yahoo as my toolbar and have soemthing called net assistance... it wont let me not have the toolbar so i decided meh just a toolbar ill take it off after so i go ahead...

now it wants me to have something called registry helper and after reading what it has to say it sounds EXACTLY like Window Washer except it runs in the background .... that will probably slow my computer down AND interfere with Window Washer!

so what other crap is this thing going to decide i should install mandatory ??? is having all this crap really worth it?? what does quicktime decide is mandatory for installation but wont be wanted or needed ?

all i wnat to be able to do is be bale to view my vids from my computer and upload them onto youtube at this point im willing to attempt a RAW video upload as some one called it ....

also if this isnt worth a whole new topic could a Mod move this + topic title into my youtube one please?

VLC does not require you to install Yahoo Toolbar or anything else. During installation you can simply uncheck all of those and VLC will still install with no problems. I've been running VLC for years and never have had to run Yahoo toolbar or anything like that.

I would recommend either VLC or Windows Media Player Classic Homecinema.

The .mov format is a Quicktime video.

I can't help you with Movie Maker, but if and when you need VLC, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html.

I never have been asked by VLC to install Yahoo toolbar or anything I didn't want. I got it from the http://www.videolan.org though not some third party site. I would say GOM PLayer would be a good backup but it seemsa bit more bloated.

I use GOM and the real alternative codec to play .mov files.

GOM isn't bloated. it's alot faster than vlc too, especially when playing HD files.

Personally I like MPC (Media PLayer Classic) best of all. It comes standalone, but I would recommend using the one that comes in the http://www.cccp-project.net/, since installing CCCP will cover you on about 99% of media formats out there.

I never get the dialog you mentioned even when doing a clean install or an upgrade. I think the site you are getting it from bundles extra stuff with it. Try to use the site I linked and see if it still asks you for it. Otherwise GOM is a good alternative.

Didn't your mom tell you to not take candy from strangers? Same applies to downloading files off the Internet: only do so from reputable sources. I don't know how you even found that website or thought downloading from it was a good idea. Google searching "VLC" results with the first website being videolan.org. Even if you don't know that is the official website, you still should know that .org websites are generally very safe. Even failing to choose the first link, the next link was cnet followed by file hippo, both very safe. Hell. I can't even find the site you linked to in the OP anywhere on the first page.

Like I already said in your last thread:

For converting YouTube videos I recommend http://handbrake.fr/ to convert to an .mp4/.m4v and http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/ for making clips.

I can confirm this, i recently re-downloaded and installed VLC and I simply unchecked those boxes.

revolutionfilms gave you the link. Either you didn't use the link or you are mistaken and clicked a sponsored link. Either way, you screwed up and didn't use a good site.

You screwed the pooch, scan your system to see how bad and learn to use reputable download sources in the future. Maybe see if they offer safe hex classes at your school :P
