[REQz/ Search] Voice actors for RBP, CR & Integration

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2009 2:01 am

Hey BG. I'm a bit swamped at the moment but I'd be happy to help you out if I can. :foodndrink: You can listen to my...admittedly small...archive in TESA's Voice Actors Archive forum. :embarrass: Haven't gotten around to expanding it. I've also done a couple trailers for mods.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HG6BXtqfLU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMzHcP-Yy4s

and voiced Elenara in http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=963382&hl=

I'm doing a couple big projects right now but I could fit some lines in for you. :D

I love your voice. Amazing

I offer. I am, just starting this ^_^ so I might need a tad bit of help. I currently have WavePad (which IMO, svcks), but I couldn't get a good file to load to iTunes and what not. So any advice to getting it to a medium that can be shared?

I believe I am quite talented... I have a naturally deep voice, but my styles range from cat to dolphin to demon (my friends get entertained quite often when I get hyper). And being a singer, I can get pretty high, if you ever need those feminine men haha. But yeah... what recording system should I use? Thanks!

also, I would be willing to record my voice for "not-so-important NPCs" for Integration. I have this program called "Voice Changer" that can tweak my pitch and quality so I can even voice act for multiple characters.

only thing is .. English is not my primary language so I might not sound 100% fluent (though I've been in US for more than 10 years now). and I am not an experienced VA .. only did VA for 3 of my personal video game projects (Star Wars KOTOR, Suikoden V, and Vagrant Story) ... that's why I said I should probably just do the "not-so-important NPCs" =)

Thanks for all offers :).

Current situation took a turn to the worse for me after release of Integration's slice 6, though. HDD died (good timing! Why do they always die in may for me?!). While I have saved everything imporant I currently don't have the space available for anything like exporting existing dialog (Ohmes-raht and Xivilai voice), or even storing new voice files. I hope to get my system running properly again soon, but I can't exactly say when. Hopefully until next week. Running on quite low resources currently :cold:.

Regarding Integration I'm still trying to break it down into ... hm, let's say "processable" parts. In total Integration's amount of dialog can't be measured in lines, but in dozens (likely hundreds) of pages.

Of course everything spoken by standard characters can't be voiced (unless someone has a voice which is close enough to Vanilla's voices ;)), so this cuts out a lot of voice. I think Integration can be partially voice acted, which is all new characters. Last time I counted there were around eightyfive with unique dialog lines.

Of these ~85 characters there are 8 major characters, 63 medium characters, 14 minor characters. Minor and medium characters imho can use, if someone would volunteer, the "race voice" approach of Oblivion (e.g. the four male sea elves then would have the same voice). Now of course there are some medium characters who are kind of unique and it wouldn't hurt them to have their own voice :). I think I can put together screenshots of all characters (CS screenshots though), and then... how about pick whoever you think your voice fits best, and I extract their lines from the CS?

I've thought about it some more, and... I had an idea.

How about changing the Xivilai voice? Remove the "bestial" part, make it more human? This would allow, in theory, for the new voice to be shared with the Daedra Seducers (which currently use the Redguard voices  ), and would make it a lot easier to get voices for them together. Only a slight editing would be necessary, for the "echo" effect (which I can add).

So, before continue, question to everyone who posted here: Are you still willing to do voices, first of all for RBP / CR? Which means at first the "generic" voices for Xivilai / Ohmes-raht? Then, if this succeeds, we can see if something can be done about the monster that is Integration :).

You know you can count me in. ^_^

Things are moving along nicely with my FO3 projects, and "Viconia", so I'll have the time.

I'm still willing to VA. I'll have to check later to see if the link to my samples is still up; unless you still have 'em.

Alright, thanks :)!

I would say...

greenwarden for the female Ohmes-raht voice,
WhoGuru for the Xivilai voice (more humanoid than the original ;))
xFrancis147 for the male Ohmes-raht.

Anyone willing to do male Xivilai?

PS: I've just extracted what would need to be voiced.

Generic greetings, hellos, goodbyes, taunts etc are around 25 minutes. That needs to be done. If you're willing to do a full voice set, so NPCs of a given race can also communicate with other NPCs (mud crab conversations :ahhh: ), there would be around an hour more to do. This though is something that is only an optional thing, if you're really willing to do a full voice set. Only the generic often played things would contribute a lot to the atmosphere already :).

Woohoo! :celebration:

So the Ohmes-Raht sound "highpitched and cute" to your mind's ear... I will come up with a couple of different takes on that, and you can preview them. I know you're busy, so don't worry, I won't be sending you a lengthy monologue to sit through. Just a couple of lines.

Ooo a Xivilai! That will be a new one for me! Should be loads of fun! Assuming I can pull that voice off, I'd like to do the whole shebang, the needed and the optional. I'll see about putting together a few test lines next time my husband steps out for a bit. :lmao: Weeks vacation this week for him.

Awesome! I'd be willing to do the optional part as well. Obviously recording over an hour will take me longer but I don't mind doing it ^_^ . Besides, I love mud crab conversations! They never get old IMO ;) .

Luck,

Glad that the idea of making a full voice set didn't cause flying tomatoes :).

Well, "highpitched and cute" is how the few samples Luchaire put together sounded like ;). It somewhat fits them, but I'm open to reinterpretations :). Example given your robot for Fallout 3 sounded fitting - except the robotic effects. If that makes any sense .

Great! Are you willing to voice the male Xivilai?

For Integration certainly - if there are enough voice actors then.
(Unfortunately the problem described http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=966575 appeared. Around half of the dialog in Integration are by female NPCs - voiced I think around ten hours at least per gender. I'm not sure if two female voice actors alone would be willing or able to voice > 30 NPCs* and dozens, maybe hundreds of pages :ahhh: .

* = unique NPCs alone. If we count the used Vanilla NPCs in too, there are more like > 100 NPCs to voice :cold:.

Ah, I see- you are referring to the Ohmes-raht combat voice... I can actually pitch that high. That may not be a desirable vocal trait in an NPC. It's quite an annoying voice. :D

And I know exactly what you're referring to in my Robobrain voice- that's pitched up a few degrees, then decayed/delayed. I can do the same, minus the processing.

True. A bit less... highpitched may be desireable ;).

Tyana Rie: Great! Are you willing to voice the male Xivilai?

?

Besides, I think I've got all greetings, goodbyes and everything together. I'll send PMs around soon I hope - depends also if Tyana Rie (or someone else) is willing to do the male Xivilai voices :).

I'm willing to do a lot of recording as long as I don't have to edit them :P I did start out doing voiceovers for Lost Spires but got mired down as more people than me was going to record in my little studio and everything just fell apart.

I'll find you a sample and upload it somewhere for the Xivilai, although I am mostly interested in helping out with the Integration mod.

As I said, it is all the cut and paste with the voice files that I really hate - if I can just send some longer recording sessions where you yourself choose the best read line and cut that out from the recording; label it and make it into a mp3. Let me tell you, that is the boring part ;)

On the positive side I do have a nice little studio and a set of different mic's, so you'll get good sound quality atleast.

This will likely work for Integration, but not for the race voice sets. They are very short, but very many. If there's no labeling on them (or they're not at least exactly sorted like the default ones), then it will take an unbelieveable amount of time to sort them out.

As I got the first voice files for the Ohmes-raht set, I needed two hours to figure five HELLOs out. It took me nearly a complete day to figure out the 30 files I got.

Sounds like voice actors are still direly needed! Come on, anyone - who doesn't love Wookies, er I mean, Xivilais !?
(And I concur, the samples from the female Ohmes-raht that I've had the chance to listen to are awesome)
