Voice Actors Wanted

Post » Sat Jun 05, 2010 6:55 pm

Hello, all. I need a few voice actors for a mod I'm making for New Vegas. It's a radio station mod that's also a short quest line, the whole script has been written and the making of it in the GECK is in progress. There are a few characters I need voices for, as listed below:

Ed Chapel

Ed Chapel is a tough guy with a good heart. He is caucasian, in his late thirties to mid fourties. He used to serve in the NCR but now he fights for freedom. His voice should be serious and somewhat deep. If you would like to audition for this character, please upload you saying this line in the voice you'd use for this character: "A question for you all to think about during our next song: Would you sacrifice freedom for safety? Or would you be willing to live in a free world in which you might not always be safe?"

NCR Soldier

There is only one line needed for this. The voice should sound serious in nature and like it would belong to a young man in mid twenties. If you would like to audition for this character, please upload you saying the soldier's only line in the voice you'd use for this character: (Warning, will spoil a potential ending if you read this:
Spoiler
"This radio station is no longer in operation. Ed Chapel has been terminated, and his
lies along with him. Please put all memories of him and his station out of your mind.
This message will now repeat."

Jason Godfried

A young soldier for the NCR. In his early to mid twenties. If you would like to audition for this character, please upload you saying this line in the voice you'd use for this character: "Jason Godfried, at your service. What can I do for you?"

Sgt Sidney

An old NCR Sgt up in the elderly years. He wants Chapel dead. Sgt Sidney should have a serious sounding voice that would fit well with an elderly man. If you would like to audition for this character, please upload you saying this line in the voice you'd use for this character: "A little birdie told me that you know how the location of a Mr. Ed Chapel. Is that correct?"

Looking forward to your responses and auditions! You are allowed to audition for more than one character. If you want to only do one but audition for multiple, you can use the same voice. If you want to voice several in the mod, please change your voice for ech character.

Thank you! :)

Nice A radio mod. I am wondering though what sorts of tunes and how much would be included. All tunes included would have to be public domain for obvious reasons.

I am all for more music, the music we have now is pretty good, but starts to wear thin after a little while.

I'll have some recordings done and ready for you in a couple hours.

Caucasian male, mid-20s Light Californian accent blended with some others (fairly neutral).

After I send you the initial recordings, if you hear potential, we can get into details (say this part with more oomph etc)

I can get you excellent quality with -no- noise.

I'll be throwing some auditions tomorrow.

In the mean time, here is my sample pack I've usually thrown to random people. http://www.mediafire.com/file/o8xoda18n5ydta4/MDarkbladeM_SamplePack.zip

...and I seriously need to update my sample pack with some recent projects as well.

I've included the project file just for the heck of it. You never know  why not.

Included is the raw* recording, a bandpass filtered copy (300hz - 3000hz), and the same with some pipboy radio-noise to show what it might sound like in-game.

Not too much emotion. That can be changed with some direction :)

* - not really raw. Noise filtered, and manually suppressed sibilants. Normalized, but not compressed.

I would be willing to do other voices if you think my voice fits. I also find that pitch adjustments within 15% have a large impact on tonality without sounding artificial.

I hope I'm not too late? I did several recordings, they are in 44.1K They have a low end enhancement (3-6dB @ 100Hz among other adjustments for more of a "radio voice") They have a 2.5:1 ratio -21.0 dB of GR compression on them to further enhance the audio quality. There is also one with a Telephone/Radio filter on it for realism.

P.S. Even if I don't get picked, I am an Audio Engineer, so if there is anything that you would need done to the audio for your project (literally, anything) I'm your man. Audio is my passion, I can make whatever you want sound like whatever you want.

You'd be great for the NCR soldier, I'll be sure to use your file. :)

Sgt. Sidney rocks my b0x0rs.

I guess in plain English that means: Yeah, I'll do it.

Yes.

*nod*

I won't have time to setup my "good" sound equip, but I'll try and take some time while my GF is at work tomorrow to record a couple of audition samples for you.

...since your description of Chapel more or less fits me anyhow...

A very quick and dirty audion for Chapel. Done with about the crappiest mic and software combination possible, as I'm low on time this weekend and it was what I had in hand - mostly just wanting to give you a chance to see if my voice would fit with what you're looking for or not. I should have more time over the next couple of weeks to pull out the better equipment (the mics are right beside me, but I don't have anything setup right now to feed them phantom power...)

Sounds good dude, I would be more than happy to help, :touched: just e-mail me the script of what you want me to say, (if there is more to it than what was said in the audition) I gave you a couple different takes of Jason, (one with an accent and one without), which one would you like? also, The more information the better, Like the setting, demeanor, etc...

look forward to hearing from you!
