Voice actors, who do you want?

Post » Sun Nov 14, 2010 7:20 pm

We already know that there are going to be some famous actors invloved in Skyrim as Todd Howard has already said he thinks we will be surprised with who is involved (I forget which interview I heard that in so can't provide a source... although I will look for it.... stay tuned). I know there are fans (myself included) that would prefer they spend the money on making the game better and instead hire some very good relatively unknown voice actors, rather than blockbuster actors and as much as I love him Patrick Stewart for example.

Who would you like to see in Skyrim? I would love someone like Samuel Jackson, he would make a great blade. 2 other actors I wouldn't mind seeing like to not sure how well outside of England thay are known but they are Rowan Atkinson (great for the comic side) and Brian Blessed (one of the most distinct voices in the world, you would never forget him once you met him. Would make a great commander in the game, very powerful voice)

I am expecting some interesting recommendations!

No one famous in particular actually. I'd prefer some awesome talent that's not well known.

Yea, there's great talent out there who they can get for cheap, and wouldn't mind because they just want to get there names out there. Best for both parties.

I second this, but apparently it won't happen. Supposedly, we're getting more famous voice actors than ever. Wish that money would be spent elsewhere.

This.

I don't understand why some developers think having celebrity voice-actors in their games is a major priority and a selling point. I mean look at Fable III - did people really give a damn about John Cleese and Jonathan Ross being involved? I sure as hell didn't.

How about some professional voice actors instead of screen actors? Simon Templeman would be an excellent fit for a Dark Brotherhood character (moreso if said character is a vampire.)

Large cast of non-famous and talented voiceactors/actresses.

Maybe few bit more recognizable names such as Ian McShane, Powers Boothe, Ian McNeice, James Purefoy, Brad Dourif or such.

Call me old fashioned but I'd rather have all text, play the voices in my own head, and have all that cash put towards some other feature.

Call me lazy but I prefer there to be voice acting. I don't want to read everything, it was the one thing in Morrowind that I hated. I don't however want them to spent a large chunck of their budget on famous actors though good unknown actor is surely the way to go.

Kelsey Grammer, as a deceptively pomp, Colovian emissary, whose wit is perhaps a trace of a concealed genius. His character is the official face of the Mede Empire's support for the Imperial cause in Skyrim. Unofficially, the Emperor fears he won't be strong enough to conform, let alone contain, a Nord Empire within his own. Therefor, his emissaries are forming strategies, to conform or conquer the Nord Empire, should it succeed, while considering the Thalmor threat.

As awesome as Sean Bean is... no. Dovahkiin is not an official character.

Lots (and lots and lots and lots and lots) of talented nobodies you can hire 50 of for the cost of one Captain Picard. (Who is dead before "the game proper" even begins, no less. )

I also agree having the character of the best voice actor you have die within 10 minutes of the start of the game is... quite frankly a bit dumb. Sorry Todd
