Voice of Alcatraz

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 7:55 am

I love the voice of Alcatraz, it's so robotic, or is it his suit that says what the objective is and what mode you're in?

Anyhow, it's still sweet, what do you think?

It's the suit - I'm not sure you hear Alcatraz in the game, you don't in the opening sequence. It would be odd if he never spoke to anyone though.

I don't really like the new suit voice. It sounds too 'stereotypical' or something. I liked original suit voice better :P

Won't prevent me from playing though.

That's the suit.
But in my opinion it sounds very futuristic and robotic, I kinda like that, but it's sometimes really weird.

Why would Alcatraz talk to himself to indicate the suit mode and objective?
I guess you could say that the suit is voice-activated, but that still wouldn't leave any reason for Al to say the objective out loud.

I'll be very disappointed if Alcatraz never speak, or if he's a Masterchief's clone !

the new suit voice doesnt sound male or female, sounds purely robotic to me and almost like a mix of the two genders, however you can hear what im assuming is Alcatraz's voice in this trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSiu-lES2-o

I doubt that's Alcatraz, probably just a voice over guy speaking in the 1st person.

That is Alcatraz speaking in the "Be The Weapon" trailer. I think it's pretty obvious by him saying things like "the suit doesnt make me unstoppable but it does make me our last hope". Wouldn't make sense if it was anyone but Alcatraz saying that. Also, compare the voices and you'll notice Alcatraz sounds just like Nomad!

A character doesn't need to speak to make the story great. Take half life 2.

Also a recent interview with the guy who wrote the story (can't recall his name) said he doesn't speak.

Gordon Freeman never utters a word even when shot, lol. But it worked. Sometimes i find there is too much pvssyr in games of this genre/type.

Not in Crysis !
Richard Morgan have replaced Nomad with Alcatraz, it must have a reason !

If Alcatraz don't speak, why he haven't kept Nomad ? Nomad could be better than Alcatraz if Al is silent .....

They did a good job with Nomad because he didnt talk too much And he didnt talk too little.

As for Crysis 2, I'm thinking Alcatraz wont speak much because in the beginning he is asked a question and doesn't reply vocally(foreshadowing of a silent hero)
