I don't think the tech is nearly at the right level yet.
I mean, simple command words would work, but I do not believe that such a system would be an asset to the game.
Until you can converse casually and complexly, I can't see an advantage to it -- particularly considering your hands are on a mouse and keyboard already anyways.
I was going to say if/when that happens, but I'm a tech optimist and I'm pretty sure it will be their someday, just not any time soon ... but when, eventually, you can talk to characters in the game like they were humans rather than simple "if - then" style lines of code, and have them respond dynamically rather than picking from pre-recorded .wavs -- then it will be a real addition to a game. But we may be all dead and gone by the time that happens, because thats sci-fi crazy stuff.
