Don't bother with trying to listen to voices in the GECK. I've learned over the years that it's not worth it... simply convert to OGG and test in-game. Here's my workflow for getting voices and .lips in-game:
- Rename the .wav files I get from actors to their proper file names for the quests
- Move the renamed .wav files to /Oblivion/Data/Voice for .lip generation, then generate .lip files
- Convert the properly named .wav files to .ogg
- Move both the .ogg and .lip files into the proper voice folder
And that seems to work pretty well. Also, want to save a LOT of time getting .lip files in game? In the TESCS, go to Gameplay in the menu bar, then "Facial Animations...". From there, click yes, and BOOM! You've got .lip files in ten seconds or so. It might not approximate lip animations as well as writing the dialogue out would, but ah well.
