Volkskygge

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 3:28 pm

So I'm a level 11 orc and I wanted to go clear volkskygge, if you've ever done it then you know that you end up regretting it because it takes about forever. Which I never had until now and I do regret it. But here is my problem:

[POSSIBLE SPOILER]

At the end of the dungeon I now realize that there is a draugur death overlord guy that I have a snowball's chance in hell of beating. The only problem is that after about 20 tries at killing him I attempted to go back and get out of the whole mess altogether. Lo and behold there's a gate locked behind me so I have no way of getting out. Because I'm not all too smart I usually just quicksave my last actual save is a couple of real life days ago. Is there any way out of Volksygge after you turn all of the animal switches, or is there any way to beat this guy with pretty low level gear/ anything he is weak against? Thank you.

you should have 3 autosaves.. reload to an earlier version.. if not, you've learned your lesson for future reference.

:3 Tee-hee, you're in a spot of trouble, aren't you? Well, let's see, what kind of character are you? Warrior? Greatest disadvantage there. Is there any sort of terrain that you could climb up on, out of his reach? Any powerful scrolls, shouts or spells? You probably could beat him, but it'll take a lot of effort and a lot of luck. I was in a similar situation once, it's definitely frustrating.

Man that svcks, I hadn't encountered any Death Overlords until about lvl 20-25 with any of my toons. I think I did Volkskygge but it was later on so he was easy when I did.

You, sir, are a genius.

Other suggestions were helpful also, I'll go try some more. Thanks again.

I know :( I never change the difficulty out of principle but all I want to do is leave and not have to revert back to my character about 6 hours ago so I have no choice. I would leave and come back later if the dungeon design would allow it.

Utilize EVERY resource you have if you need to. But BEWARE
Spoiler
there is an even more powerful unique dragon priest named Volsung at the peak of Volskygge. He will tear you up bad if Deathlords are

Anyway, use every poison you have, spam familiars as a distraction to get a few lucky hits in, hit and run (this requires very good timing) and if possible, sneak attack the Deathlord with the most poisoned, deadliest bow and arrow you got. If you have runes in the Destruction tree to lay down, do those too. I think you can do it bro, just keep trying new techniques. When you do kill him, you will be proud that you overcame such a challenge :)
I hope I helped

This.

A few days ago, in another thread, one of the moderators said that they're looking at the autosave function as the cause of a lot of problems, because of the constant overwriting of previous saved games - eventually it will corrupt the file and then you're out of luck.
