does anyone else on these forums do volunteer work?

I occasionally Volunteer at the local soup kitchen, as well as the local SPCA..... on a rare occasion i even go back to my old office (i was laid off with half the staff due to budget cuts) just to help them catch up on some paperwork..

let me tell you, Volunteer work feels very rewarding

So, does anyone else do Volunteer work? if so, where? and do you find it feels more rewarding than paid work?

I've done volunteering such as clean-ups, loading releif trucks, coaching, etc.

The only one where I've felt more "rewarded" is/was coaching kids. It's cool to see them develop, and enjoy what they do.

But really, I take pride in any job that's weel done

Do a few hours at a community food bank every week packing up emergency parcels for the hungry.

I dunno about you going back to your office to help out with paperwork.... if they aren't getting it done they should rehire someone rather than rely on your enthusiasm, and the only way they'll do that is if it starts piling up.

I used to work somewhere where I ended up "volunteering" four times as much as I was being paid for. The place has closed down now.

Yeah, I do volunteer work at a local primary school. Mostly administrative duties and handling phone calls, but I have also done some guest lectures and I help out with stuff like being an extra supervisor on school trips and the like. I enjoy it, but the reason I do it is because I'm having trouble finding a proper job.

I volunteered for VITA (voluntary income tax assistance) once. Never again will I volunteer for anything. The work itself was not bad at all, but working on anything for free makes me feel like a svcker.
