Vote for Vaults in Skyrim.

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 10:41 pm

I think the vaults could offer an oppurtunity for Bethesda to include creatures that don't come from that province.
As in creatures brought in especially to protect the vault. My opinion of course but I think it would spice up the gameplay and it would give fan service including returning creatures.

If the game had ten fold the numbers of uniques it had in OB then id vote yes for vaults, if there were vaults in OB you could probably collect every unique item in the game just by visiting 1 vault . . . also the loot should be randomized, id hate walking into the vault knowing exactly what it contains

That was one thing OB was missing. Unique hand placed loot. Every dungeon just had all the same leveled randomized chests so you never found that "special" thing in a dungeon or ruin. Hopefully we'll see more unique items in Skyrim. I'm not familiar with vaults in MW, but it sounds kinda like that.

the only problem with doing to too random is having an amazing nuke of an item endingit up in one of the easier vaults

thats why even uniques should have lvls, and there should be low lvl uniques, and i dont mean a low lvl version of a unique that also has a high lvl version, no. A proper low lvl unique, like for example a unique fur armor . . . not all uniques should be high tier items

then all vaults would have lvls, and even though you could find a low lvl unique in a high lvl vault you can not expect a high lvl unique to spawn in a low lvl vault

The hardest part about looting the vaults was trying to make as few trips as you possibly could to creeper/mudcrab merchant. Raiding the vaults was pathetically easy at level 1. They were poorly designed and poorly guarded. I for one hope we never see a return of so much stupidly overpowered loot in one place ever again. Least of all the stereotypical "dragon horde."

Something more like 10 high level unique items, randomly distributed between 30ish high level dungeons with 2-3 spawn point (chests, NPCs, or open areas) in each dungeon. The same can of course be done with mid level and low level gear. This would actually make people explore to find their gear and not ruin subsequent playthroughs with advanced knowledge of how to get 200k gold and full suits of ebony, daedric, and glass armor at level 1.

Yes for vaults, but only if they are very difficult to get into. meaning that you will die if you are not powerful enough.
...I also think the Ordinators are really cool. I wanted to make an outfit to look like one for ComicCon, but my skills svck in that sort of thing.

I don't care about vaults, but Ordinators have absolutely no relation to Skyrim.

The ordinators question was a 'side note' to the vaults being added to Skyrim. It wouldnt make much sense to have them wondering around the mountainside hahaha. But I do miss them, their bad ass armor, and attitudes. The ordinators probably wont return, but that doesnt mean they wont have their Skryim counterparts. We will have to wait and see.

As for the person who said the vaults in Morrowind were easy to break into at level one.....I dunno about all that but I agree they would need to be completely stepped up if introduced in Skryim. I dont want them to be easy, or even necessarily filled with ALL the loot in the game as you suggest. Mostly, I like the idea of a highly secure room that has nice booty in it. It doesnt need to be overboard with items, but if it had some nice jewels, gold, and a few weapons that would be nice. Maybe even a unique weapon in each, or something of the sort.

Vaults FTW!

But don't make them so easy as they were in Morrowind. Something like really powerful guards and doors that can only be opened with a key is needed. Guards would attack anyone who has no business being near the vaults door and also the key to the door is owned by some hard to kill NPC. Make it so that you have to be either extremely powerful or an elaborate thieve in order to get into a vault.

It would be nice if there were lots of different ways to do the heist. For example you could join a faction so that you gain access to the vault door (guards won't attack) and you could get the key from a NPC by assassinating him which should also be difficult. So that planning and observing would pay off. Not like "wait until the guards are not looking and then lockpick like never before!"

Don't bump your own thread from days ago. People lost interest in the topic, let it die.

Instead of making Vaults Vaults, why not make them Dragon Lairs? Same purpose, just halfway up a mountain and guarded by a giant beast too.

I like this more than anything else so far. Nords just don't strike me as the people who would store their valuables in some room somewhere.
As to ordinators, No.

I loved the vaults in Vivec, but they were too easy to strip clean because of how stupid the guards were. In my opinion, if you want to rob a vault you should have to sneak past a gauntlet of guards like at the end of the Thieves Guild questline in Oblivion, then pick very hard locks and get past some traps for good measure. It should NOT be an easy task by any stretch of the imagination, but it'd make being a thief worth it again.

On the other note: no. I don't miss hearing "We're watching you....SCUM" every two seconds.

Hmmm....This comment doesnt really make much sense. The Nords were one of the richest, most wealthy civilizations of Tamriel. Skyrim, was one of the most wealthy areas. It would only make sense to store this loot where? In a vault. Keeping your life long saving in a chest under your bed??? Doesnt seem to likely.

Its kind of stupid to say "Nords wouldnt store their stuff all in one place, BUT DRAGONS WOULD!"

And Ordinators were awesome. I dont know who played MW that didnt find them interesting....In a good way.

They're interesting in a good way if you join the Tribunal Temple so they're actually nice to you. Otherwise: :gun:

Personally even if vaults dont return, I would like some areas to be filled with treasure. I felt that Oblivion lost that epic feeling that you got when you discovered these vaults were stuffed with amazing loot. I absolutely loved the concept of having a vault/bank. Like said it just needs to be better balanced to make sure you dont just pick 4 locks and your in.

Never played Morrowind much, need to play it again. But yea, vaults are awesome, so I want them in.

They pretty much confirmed a dunmer city ... So hopefully, we see some ordinators there (not sure about the lore). Or atleast, ordinator armor in some museum or deep down in some dungeon ...

Free world heists anyone?

Not a quest... but just vaults you could chose to rob on your own. It really adds a ton to the RP experience of being a thief if you could stake out a place (With a few built-in weak spots) and rob it blind!

I'm sure there will be vaults (I'm 99% sure seeing as how we have seen a screenie of what looks like a vault).

On a side note, who cares about the Ordinators? Just weak spearwielders. If they return in Skyrim, they won't have any weapons bwahahaha. :icecream:

a thousand times yes! discovering those vaults in MW was a huge break for my 1st char (a thief).

i am hoping for vaults and more in skyrim. i figure there has to be a few burial mound-type dungeons in this game, seeing as how the nords are based on Scandinavian/German barbarians. finding that ship burial MW was another great moment.
