Vote Kick Feature - Updated [02/06/11]

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 3:18 pm

If you are too good then donot play with noobs. They have every right to kick you.Play with your match or donot play. That how this world works. That's not how it works. The game does the match making, if the good players did that all night they'd never get any play time.

I'd like to recommend this incompetent company the following votekick system:

Simply by pressing "`" which opens console

Then by typing "votekickmenu"

Then a menu of a list of all the current players on the server should pop up, each player with a number for example:

1 player
2 player
3 player
until 8, and a 9 and 0 for next and previous option, then again
1 player
2 player
3 player

So that people can find the player and press the number of the player and boom instant kick.

I don't know if I explained myself clearly but here is an idea of a easier way.

EDIT: By the way, this idea comes from the amxmodmenu for admins in counter strike

While i do like the idea about being able to kick hackers unfortunently the little kids that dont know skills from hacks are gonna make us skilled players suffer i hope u guys have some measures on this feature to not have us players that are commited and skilled getting kicked for no reason.

True dat. I've been admin on Counter Strike servers, and COD servers, and this statement is true. Only an experience gamers will and can determine when skill is present and not a hack.

Also, there is a known work around; just log off before vote is complete, and come back later.

Nonetheless, we appreciate the move in the right direction.

There better be a GUI patch coming soon: Mute individual players from scoreboard while in-game, vote to kick users from scoreboard while in-game, and advanced options added. Though, I must say, I waste enough time on the forums as is, and I only have 187 posts. Some people waste almost all their time here... 500 posts?

I am willing to bet that most of the people that posted about how they are "just really good" and are now afraid they will be unjustly kicked for it, are simply afraid of being busted for hacking.

I am not calling anyone on here out for hacking, but my experience in online gaming (especially first person shooters) is that 90% of the time if the player seems to good to be true it's because they are cheating. It's not very often you hear a hacker admit it. I have noticed (and had quite a few games like this myself) that a score of 30-3 happens now and then so please don't jump on a guy right away for it. You have to play at least 5 games or so with someone before officially calling em out I would say.
A guy that always places in the top 3 is probably just really good. A guy that always places first in every game you see them in is probably hacking.
If your not sure though I think giving a guy a half dozen games before you make a judgement is a fair deal.

Honestly, can you stop stalling and just give us the commands to votekick. The community isn't exactly all childish children with no knowledge of judgement.

I want to play in your gaming community because the people on the servers I play on certainly will, and with great prejudice, kick whoever they feel like due to cheats, ability, inability, name, rank, presumed gender, ping, gun choice, and any other characteristic that an individual can observe. The judgment is there, good or practical it is not. Such is the risk when you allow the jury to be the executioners. Was childish children overkill or do you just like redundancy? Try to calm down. It's not the end of the world, Dummy. I'll check back after the first time I'm kicked for no valid reason to check on your overly aggressive stupid response. Happy gaming.

Hell ya I will call a vote to kick on the basis of PING. It takes a real idiot to join a server and lag everyone down when he has a 700 ping, and everyone else in there is under 100. Just plain stupid.

While unfortunate for the user with the high ping, I agree. It's simply unacceptable to let one person ruin the game for everyone else.

Although it would probably be better if admins could specify a maximum average ping for users than letting people just kick.

I didn't realise that that is what happened to low ping players when high ping players joined.
Some of us have zero choice in the matter though. We either join or not play :(.

Ya that svcks if you cant find your own low ping server to play in. But this is how ping works --> if everyone in the server is at 900 ping then you are all fine. The lag comes when there is a huge variance in pings. When one person is hundreds away from the next. You will usually be fine if your ping is under 200, I myself wont join a server with a ping over 200.

I'm lucky to find one under 200. There are a few in Australia, though nowhere near enough people to play against. Caught between a hard place and a rock.
Lowest ping I have seen here was about 125 against the overseas pings of around 350 upwards.

OK. Here's what i found in-game on how to votekick. It's really easy and much faster than having it on the GUI:

1. press ` for console
2. enter 'votekick [username]' You can just type the first few unique characters of the hacker/player and hit TAB to auto-complete the username
3. Message will be displayed on the screen in-game for other players to know that you initiated a votekick for [username]

To vote:
1. press `
2. enter 'vote [1 or 0]' for yes and no, respectively.

Note: the [] are not part of the command, i just used them as separators for options

Can you make a short video and post it on youtube to show us how? Maybe it'll be easier? I tried doing that today and i don't see anything pop up. As for voting yes you don't have to put vote yes 1 do you?

What if i wanna say no? Vote no 0 ?

votekick has to be together? Maybe that's why?

Example, i wanted to kick a player named "blacksercher", I'll enter 'votekick blacksercher':
Image

Then other players will see i initiated a votekick for that player:

So if i were the other players and would like to say YES to kick "blacksercher", i would simply enter 'vote 1' as shown here:

This is frankly a terrible way to implement votekick, using console is just silly, after 2 months (from demo releae) you couldn't make this via ingame hud options?.

Why was it decided to use it this way?.

There is no "no" option, you either use "vote (random number)" or not at all

the autocomplete is good though didnt noticed that yet
