Votekick Instructions

Post » Sat Mar 10, 2012 7:23 pm

Before I get started, I realize (and hope) that most of the people that read this thread already know how to initiate and participate in a votekick. This thread is for new and existing players that may not know. I will also give some simple instructions on how to kick players [mainly hackers / cheaters] that use names with characters in it to try and prevent a votekick being initiated against them.

To keep track of these instructions, I would strongly recommend bookmarking this page for future reference.

Please keep unnecessary posts out of the thread to keep it clean and easy to follow.

The first thing you must do to initiate a votekick is to open the console window. (this will appear in the upper half of your screen) To do this, press the single quote key [this! --> ` <-- this!] and this will bring up the console. Not sure where to find this key? It's to the left of your number 1 key. The tilde ~ will also be on the key with it.

Second: Type votekick username to initiate a votekick against a user.

To cast your vote once a votekick has been initiated by another player, press the F1 key.

If you do not wish to participate or vote against the player do nothing.

Lastly, if there is a player on a server with a username containing odd characters to purposefully prevent or complicate being votekicked, here is how you can still initiate a votekick.

In this situation, you will want to switch Crysis 2 out of fullscreen mode. To do this, bring up the menu ingame and select OPTIONS. Next select GRAPHICS and change the FULLSCREEN setting to NO. Be sure to select APPLY before going back to the game.

Use ALT-TAB to switch out of the game to your Windows desktop.

Next you will want to open something like Notepad in Windows.

Type in the username in Notepad EXACTLY as it is in game. Be careful to get characters right. It's easy to confuse some like ` and '
After typing the username in Notepad, highlight it and select to copy it.

Return to Crysis 2 game. The game should appear as an icon minimized on your taskbar.

Once back in game, use the ` key to open the console. Type votekick and then use Ctrl+V to paste the username from notepad. Example: votekick NATARAJA5

Once you have initiated a votekick, it will help if you use chat to state why the votekick has been initiated against the player. Say, "votekick NATARAJA5 he is using speedhack"

Also, assume you have players in the game that do not know how to cast their vote and use chat to say, "Press F1 to vote"
