One thing I have noticed with the "difficulty" curve is that a lot of people who are saying the game is easy are playing range based characters. It might just be me, but I have found the game considerably harder as a melee based character. You cant really avoid damage like a ranged character, and you can't really kite as melee, so the best you can do is mitigate and block. That said, there are also AoE circles that MUST be avoided / cannot be blocked, and I often feel like, as a melee, I don't really get enough time to get out of the way. It might just be me, but I feel like there is a noticeable difference in difficulty between ranged and melee characters. Just my somewhat limited first impressions.
I disagree. While it is easier to avoid an attack in ranged combat, it is easier to interrupt an attack in melee combat. In the end, I found both equally easy.
Not to sound rude, but that is is very subjective. I found a number of mobs that were stun and interrupt immune. In my experience with such encounters, you had to start rolling out of range almost the instant the ability appears. Maybe its just my Australian internet connection talking (and it very well might be), but it feels like you get very little time to get out of the way. Sometimes you would get outside the radius and still get hit by it, so yeah... But, as others have said, it also comes down to build and playstyle. I was getting a PvP build ready, so that may be why I struggled. Progression also feels kind of messed up too, so that might have something to do with it.
I know that we all know about the block and dodge mechanics. That is no big news at this point, but I think that a lot of people don't really understand the power of these to things. I can't tell you how many times I lived to fight on in PVP when I was getting double teamed by focusing on dodging and blocking.
The point of Gutstripper was to teach you that lesson. The point of Dosha was to teach you to be aware of your surroundings and notice the little balls of light and destroy them so she can't recharge. Both of those fights were easy when you picked up on that. In fact it was almost harder getting to Gutstripper and Dosha since you had to fight 3 mobs at once. Those little imps in a pack are more of a biatch than the actual boss.
Blocking and dodging are not an option you can choose to forego and just try and dps through a fight. Those special attacks just rip you apart. People are wondering if it is harder to melee than it is to range. I think people who think it is easy are better using block and dodge and those who think its hard haven't got the timing down or don't realize how necessary it is to use.
Casuals will be the one that will have a fun time then? You mean the ones that want to build their character their way and not make a cookie cutter build? Sounds like I should be more Casual. Oh wait... I am because I always make my character my way.
Sorry, I just hate the word Casual. More so in a MMO enviroment. As a guy who just play games all day and shuts out the world, I play games as a Casual because I like to play games learning my own way.
I just think it's funny how this topic talks about how easy the game is and blame casuals. And no, I soloed Belith (Or whatever his name is) first time I saw him with my own build as a casual lol.
