VtM: Bloodlines

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:57 pm

Simple question, complex answer.

I′ve played the game four times. First as Gangrel, then Toreador, moving on to Malkavian and now I′m a Tremere and moving close to the end of the game. I′ve enjoyed all of them so picking a fav for me is hard. I really liked my Gangrel, but then again is it only because the game was new to me back then?

My Toreador was not what I expected, Celerity doesn′t work for me unfortunately. I liked my Malk′s Obfuscate and Vision of death but I hated the dialogues. More than half the time I couldn′t figure out what the heck I was saying! But I′ve really enjoyed my Tremere, Thaumaturgy and the haven at Strauss′ place is the best by far.

So my fav vampire in this game will have to be Tremere, although I think the others were great experiences too.

What about you?

I play customized clans based on VtR. Daeva = Vigor + Presence + Celerity; Mekhet = Celerity + Obfuscate + Auspex.

I used to play Tremere, so I guess that's a valid vote for me.

My first play through was as a Malkavian. I enjoyed the dialogue options and the random madness tangents. You could really screw with some of the characters. Although the endgame I had no clue what was going on.

Nosferatu is good for a laugh too. Like giving the diner lady a heart attack just by saying hi or asking a 'blood doll' if this boil looks healthy.

The rest pretty much play out the same except for Tremere which gets a different 2nd haven.

I've only completed the game once, but have gotten near the end several times. The only time I completed it, I used Tremere which is without a doubt my favorite. I also got pretty far with Malkavian which was a ton of fun, thanks largely in part to the hilarious dialog options.

"NO, you stop!"

I personally thought the conversation with the t.v was hilarious, such an insightful television. (Fun fact, the television guy is actually IN the same game area as a tv, and can be seen in no-clip mode.)

Not sure which one it is, but it has the ability that eventually becomes suicide and a stun thing. Those two together worked awesome. 2 enemies, suicide one, stun one, svck blood off the stunned one. 3 enemies, same tactic but svck the one not affected by anything.
More enemies than that they're both very good crowd controll abilities.

I think the one you think of is Malkavian. I used the same tactics ^_^

But wasn't Malkavian the crazy one? Now that I think about it I think the clan I'm thinking of is the rich upper class ones. :q

I'm a third person guy, I just wish warform wasn't as ugly :P

Ventrue then :)

Definitely Ventrue. If I'm not mistaken both Ventrue and Malkavians have Dominate in Bloodlines.

Nah, Ventrue and Tremere have Dominate. Malkavians have a different set of powers called dementation. Though The Ventrue and the Malkavians can both use their powers to influence others in conversation, Ventrue dominating people's minds and Malkavians sharing the crazy, The Tremere do not get to use domination in conversation, making that particular discipline pretty useless for most. (unless you're are playing a stealth tremere for some reason, in which case Dominate's masquerade-compliant powers are more useful then thaumaturgy. Of course, Tremere aren't cut out for stealth)

Ah yes. For some reason I thought that Malkavians had both Dementation and Dominate, I forgot they had Obfuscate. Never played one past the tutorial, the dialogue drove me insane.

I liked Domination a lot on my Tremere character though. It made the stealth missions for Mitnick a lot easier, plus with both mass suicide and blood boil the only thing that could threaten me were bosses.

Malkavian with the mod (don't know the name anymore) that let you hear strange voices now and then.

Malkavian...

one for the fact that i UNDERSTOOD all the dialog, even as messed up as the font was

two, every time I got near someone who wasn't harming me i'd hear this wolfy growling and after a bit they DID attack me.

three, Jennette, Terrese? Love them...

four, LOVED the Malkavian guys home/comments on psychosis/disease/the lack of old fashioned mental asylums.... a shame they had to kill him. :(

five, His experiment in slowing/stopping time in whatever the hell kind of amber looking stuff that was, was awesome.

six, I was a NINJA with my Chinese sword, obfuscate, and sneaky!

Just finished my game as a Toreador, which I definitely think was the way to go for me (with the Zen Master history) though I think I might try Gangrel or Malkavian next time. Celerity is such a great skill, however: take down a room of enemies before they can even raise the alarm, whirling around like a bloodlusted blender... :D

The Tremere do not get to use domination in conversation

Ah, but they can. In fact when first meeting with Therese my Tremere tried to Dominate her in conversation, but failed and got caught :P

They can when you install the unofficial patch, but not in the vanilla game. I prefer the unofficial patch. It doesn't make sense that you can make a man kill himself but not subtly guide a conversation.

When I played I started with a Gangrel, but that game bugged out pretty bad and I had to drop him in the late game. Next time around I played Tremere, I believe. That first-tier Thaumaturgy discipline was a lifesaver.

As I said I′m a first person guy, so I never used Protean. Now however if I played Gangrel I would use it as I have overcome that problem. At least with this game

On note: I still prefer guns :gun:
