[RELz] Vurt's Ashtrees Replacer

Post » Fri Oct 15, 2010 1:04 am

The trees are very foreboding, dark, grim. Makes you really think twice about venturing into a forest of those.

I imagine them swaying around in the wind storms, looking like feelers or tendrils. Very monster like, very insect like.
10/10 for creepiness.

Only one thing to say:

GNARLY!!!

(Both proverbially and literally!)

I have to agree with Sister on this, however. It'd be great if you could make shorter versions, or at least ones with less dense branches.

Both look nice, but I think I'll keep the tall and foreboding version 1 =)

Hehe, actualy, when i looked at the finished comparison pic, that was the first thing that struck me "hmm maybe i should do a medium version" ;) I think the big version is.. maybe a bit too big. I really should have tested different sizes before i released this lol, lesson learned i guess.

WOW those are utterly great.(Look even better on the setup your running)
Still, these would give the Ashlands the desolate, wasted feel they deserve.
I'll wait till all the little bugs have been ironed out though.

The improved texture is definitely an improvement. And if you don't mind, I hope you'll at least keep the option of the big ones...I like it. :)

Looks crazy. I will definitely have to check this out after I finish reinstalling Morrowind, after having reinstalled Windows.

:( Upon trying these in-game, my FPS died (about 6 FPS walking around the Ashlands). Hopefully some day my computer will be good enough, but in the meantime... *deletes meshes/f/ folder* :brokencomputer:

I wouldnt suggest my tree mods to anyone who already is having FPS issues (if you're playing @ 20-25 FPS average or even less).. I'm cleaning the meshes up right now though, they have quite a bit of unused (hidden inside the trunks) verticies that i can remove, but dont expect miracles.

DarkDiva: No. I was playing around with trees on fire for a while but it looks idiotic with distand land (animation won't move).

Ah that will save me some time then. I DL'ed them anyway just to give them a shot, but I already run at about 15-20 FPS(with FPS Opt).
Still, I'll bookmark these for when I get my new rig. :)

Ha, I guess I underestimate my PC or something cause I went ahead and tried these, first short, then long ver and my frames are still fine.
And let me say, this replacer just made the ashlands my favorite region.

Will report any conflicts/obstructions I find.

Damn, I can't dl the small version. Oh well, I'll have to wait til 5pm.
The small version looks great, and I'm guessing will clip a lot less (the big trees penetrate the ghostfence and destroy the ghostgate shrine , maybe a medium version would be best.).

Argh, choices choices... I'm already quite low on FPS because of all the graphics related stuff I've added. :P

Wow! :o

Those look amazing. I can't wait to try them out!

My poor character will be traumatised. Kid's been spoilt since birth and now he's penniless and lost in the ashlands with those things surrounding him. What a time for me to finally get round to making him, huh? *evil grin*

I was wondering, which one do you think would look best at minimum view distance?

This had made traversing the Ashlands such a more rich and involved experience. Navigating these behemoth gnarled root's is a blast.

ISGC: not sure, do you mean MGE distance or MW's own view distance? Either way, i would recommend the latest version (medium sizes trees) since it probably runs at least a little better.

I might do updates to "short" and "big" versions of the trees sometime, but its better i try to work on 1 version first and then update it to the other versions when it's "final".

piinyouri: I'm glad you're having fun. Nice pic!
