[RELz] Vurt's Grazelands Trees

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:28 pm

Vurt's Grazelands Trees

Features:

* replaces all trees in the Grazelands region

* the .esp changes size and sometimes placement of the trees, trees are no longer tilting.

The trees can be used without the .esp if you replace vurt_ with flora_ in the file names for the meshes. This is only recommended if you have a mod conflicting with the .esp.

Oh glorious day! The great compendium of Vurt trees is complete! No longer will we have to suffer awful twig like trees!

Awesome :) Now that you've finished trees for all regions, I don't suppose you have any plans to make a combined .esp for the ones that use them (Solstheim, Ashlands, Grazelands, and maybe Bitter Coast mangroves? :icecream:)

yeah i've been thinking about doing a mod with combined trees for all regions. I do need to update my AI trees and shrooms first, most other regions i'm now fairly happy with.. it'll probably take a while before this happens.

Superb trees as usual ;)

I noticed a problem of collisions on these trees with the leaves => http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/3200/mgescreenshot1k.jpg

Do I find these trees really odd, too many branches visible and twisted in all the directions, tree too high/large? I really don't know how express that, but thess trees I find visually it odd. =>

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/5678/mgescreenshot3.jpg
http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/6219/mgescreenshot2d.jpg

As perhaps as if you decreased a very small little intensity of the colors of these trees it would be perfect. =>

Of course, all that is only my opinion. :whisper:

Well the japanese pine trees do have really twisted stems, and they do look odd sometimes :) an example: http://comps.fotosearch.com/comp/FSA/FSA013/japanese-pine-tree_~x25945174.jpg they're not like the european ones..

I've tried many different saturations for the maple trees and that's the one i was most happy with, for my settings at least. They're supposed to look intense.. like http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/content/images/2006/12/01/japanese_maple_sibley_300x450.jpg mine isnt that intense though.. Just open it in Paint.net and turn down the saturation and save if you prefer less saturation..

yeah the leaves, i'll look into that, thanks for reporting it :)

I actually prefer the whole thing being modular, instead of one big pack. I'm not using the Ashland 'trees' for example.

Separate packs would also save us from downloading a rather large file every time you update one of the trees. Which, from what I've seen, happens quite often. :D

Hey Vurt, I just watched your video of your AI trees. What music is that? It's really nice.

Anyway, the trees are pretty awesome too. They look a bit odd from underneath though.

Well i like them no matter how i look at them. :)

But indeed, every one has different likes and dislikes when it comes to art and making mods.

These are absolutely brilliant, though the branches and leaves do need to have the collision removed, that is easy enough to do in nifskope, simply astounding work again Vurt, thanks for the release! Now we just need a good Mournhold tree replacer, and all of the trees in the game will have been made fantastic! :D

Thanks :) I wish it was easy to remove collision.. the only thing i've gotten to work is adding a collision box, (copying the whole tree stem, making a low poly version of it in Blender) and then adding a NCO value in NifSkope, just adding a NCO value for the leaves and or branches doesnt seem to work. Would take quite a bit of time to do this for 11 trees. I never runned into any collision problems while testing, the leaves and branches are very far up most of the time, but i'm sure it can happen in a few occasions.. if there's a special tree that is causing this trouble, then let me know which one(s).

I'm working on Mournhold right now :)

The Greatness: hmm i had most music packs for Morrowind dowloaded when i did that clip, so no idea which song that was, sorry.

Hell yes! Thank you!

By the way, how long before it's 'approved' on PES?

Yes the only tree who poses problem is this one => http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/3200/mgescreenshot1k.jpg
Because its branch of left is low.

And thank you for makes Morrowind better!!

Just make one base root collision node cylinder, add that same node to every tree and scale where necessary......I've been just yanking root collision nodes from some of your other models and pasting them as close to center and scaled appropriately in order to fix the issues myself. It works, and its relatively easy, yea it means the collision nodes aren't perfect, but they are "perfectly" functional.

Mournhold? Awesome.

I might of mentioned it before, but I always thought that Mournhold would look great with trees like Okami. If you've never played Okami, in which case you have no soul, they look like http://i.testfreaks.co.uk/images/products/600x400/16/okami.223504.jpg and http://www.gamezone.com/images/gamezone/26/8/78/s26878_ps2_39.jpg. It's basically the nicest looking game ever, so why not steal its trees? It would also look really nice mixed with your Grazeland trees in future TR maps.

JCV1, no idea.. that's up to PES, not me :)

matilija, yeah that works too.. Do you add the NCO value too...? Maybe it's not needed when you have the collision box.

The Greatness, yes i've been looking at such "sakura" trees, like these: http://pixdaus.com/pics/12493918302AZSEsY.jpg

Glad you like it.

Here's a sakura/cherry blossom tree.. i'll add a couple of these to the Grazelands, they'll be in the Mournhold mod too. http://piclair.com/data/0kwji.jpg it'll probably improve + i'll make more vareites of it.

Pretty. It doesn't seem out of place at all. ^_^

When do you think the final version of your Grazelands textures will be out - collisions removed, final trees, and whatnot?
