[wipz / Relz] Vurt's Leafy West Gash

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2010 6:03 pm

I have no problems with that, but why don't you give me some constructive criticism instead, at least that would be of some interest and maybe even of use to me (so i know what i can do to make them better).

I know you're a modder Khunka, would you find it useful or even interesting if i posted something like this in your mod threads..?

Agreed, nothing useful about that post atall.

I've downloaded almost all your mods and I am very impressed by the way you changed Morrowind ugly "square-trees" into nice leaving trees with rich and animated foliage. Since I belong to those who silently appreciate all your work, I would like to use this thread to tell my gratitude to the modder who has given life to Morrowind flora. Your work is amazing. It is no more possible to go back to original trees or to use Vality & Liztail's animated grass without your textures.

These are really great quality work as always Vurt, but I think I'm gonna pass on this because it makes the West gash region look too similar to the Grazelands for my tastes.

I would tend to agree partially with this critical view: West Gash trees are probably a little too close to Grazelands, flora of both region looks quite similar now, and, for example, West Gash could be closer to Bitter Coast, more humid, or at least not so green... or a mix of dead trees and green ones (there are more dead trees in the original West Gash if my memory serves me well). But you've already released many nice models and such arrangements are made easy for us.

BTW, may I ask if you plan to release any new herb for Solstheim (frozen or slightly covered by snow)? Probably not so easy to make, but I am sure it would be more then welcome.

In the new version a few (maybe all, havent decided) trees will have more brown/yellow/redish tone, to make it at least a bit different. I might replace one of my trees with a dead tree that I originally created for the BC region.. I'll probably update this mod a trillion times like always before i'm happy ;)

Mordicus, Thanks, im glad you like my mods.

I HAD plans for that so i already have snow covered grass for that region somewhere on my HDD, but i have no idea how to use the utility that creates the .esp grass, can't say i tested it for long, i gave up pretty quick on it heh.. Maybe someday i'll take a look at it again.

Yay! Can't wait to see the next version then, really glad you're giving this a try!

And yeah, grass for bloodmoon would be great, I can see why creating the esp might be complicated though.

Seconded.

Oh yeah! That's just what was needed to give the West Gash a more distinct look. Sadly, I was going to pass on the first version.

Fantastic!

Excellent mod Vurt. The trees look absolutely amazing. Although, I have a small suggestion for your wind animations. At least to me, the leaves and individual trees seem to be a little too in unison with one another. The trees seem to almost be breathing rather than swaying in the wind. I'm not sure if you did this on purpose due to engine limitations or something, but I was wondering if you are planning on making the animations more random later on. Not complaining at all btw, just suggesting :).

I thought the original shots looked pretty good, but the newer ones (with red and green leaves) are just astounding! Can't wait to add these to my game this weekend...

Very nice. I like the colored version. This will definitely be added to my next playthrough.

@vurt:
Have you considered making a straight replacement for Bethesda's meshes? You probably have enough trees to do that by now.
What I mean is that if you were to select some meshes that were the approximate size/scale of the original Bethesda ones, they could be replaced (more or less) seamlessly. This would be really handy for big mods like TR that are still using Bethesda meshes. Obviously it couldn't be perfect, but I think it would be better than nothing since you have made the best trees available.

Just a thought.

Wolvman,

I'll try to change the speed between the animations and see how that will work. It's not even my own animation (i have no clue how to do animations!), originally it is used for Bethesdas water and such animations for the game. I've just managed to incorporate it / tweak it using NifSkope.. It's a very limited animation, unfortunately!

addf,

yeah the first tree mods i made were esp-less replacers and it worked well i think, so it would definetely be possible later on when i have even more trees. I still have 3(?) regions left to do.

Thanks for all the kind comments :)

I'd like to second that request. The trees look beautiful, but I prefer pluginless replacers.

I third this. I love the look of the trees but I'm trying to keep the amount of plugins in my game as low as possible.
