[wipz / Relz] Vurt's Leafy West Gash

Carpe Ferrum: That's is very strange, especially if it's just one of the models. Try using just my mod and regenerate distand land (untick all other mods in the launcher too).. it's the only way to make sure something else isnt interfering somehow.

Tes96: I've not done grazelands or solstheim yet, working on it.

Oh, I thought you did Fort Frostmoth already. Or maybe I was looking at something else. Are you just going to be doing grass and flora type stuff like that for Solstheim? Or will you also be redoing blocks of ice and sheets of ice that float on the river and whatnot?

Saint: right, i forgot BC, yes probably. It's a bit more problematic than the other regions since many of the trees has containers (fungi) attached to them + other things as well (moss etc).

Tes96: The grass/plants is already released. No, i don't think i'll be doing ice, i'll focus on the trees.

Well, the hanging moss is part of the tree mesh isn't it? Also, I suppose one option in that regard would be to make the general shape of the trunk conform to that of the original, and then go crazy with the leaves :P

Would it be too much to expect the moss to also be animated? :D

I just realized what was causing the problem. I had been using "Atmospheric Balmora for Vality's Balmora Addon" for a while, which removes all of the West Gash tree's from Balmora, and forgot to use the normal version of Atmospheric Balmora once I stopped using Vality's mod.

Saint; No the moss, the "vines" (whatever they're called) and containers are all handplaced, so they become floaters if it doesnt fit 100%. But yes doing the mesh (trunk) exactly the same solves it. I'm sure i'll continue, i tried to stop for a while but i'm having too much fun making these mods + i learn a lot and keep getting better at it i believe :)

Solstheim trees is coming along quite nicely. For once i'll try not to release it until i feel it's really finished hehe

Oh, also, are you planning on redoing the Mournhold trees (since it seems like you've learned quite a bit since making those)?

Solstheim trees look fantastic, of course.

EDIT: I just looked at the BC trees, and the tree meshes definitely have moss/vines on them. Are more added in the game in addition to the ones that are already present?

yes, they've added more, because i got floating vines and moss when i just use one of my tree meshes as a replacer.. I'm saving those for last, hopefully they'll be the best too ;)

Solstheim trees look pretty good, but you're going to have to up the game a bit! I'm saying this because the vanilla Solstheim trees were way better than all the other vanilla trees. I f you want to maintain you're level of incredible improvementliness it's gonna be tough!

Maybe you could add clumps of snow on top of some of the more snowy trees? Kind of like http://www.photoeverywhere.co.uk/west/winterholiday/snowy_trees1969.jpg

Anyways, great work as always!

Good picture, may try something like that.. making the upper part of the branches a bit more snowy.

Here's a comparison pic that i made for fun earlier.. it's easy to forget how boring the original solstheim could look (it's the same scene / exact same Point of View in both screens):

I can't wait for the new trees, vurt.

I've been wanting to replay MW for a while... At this point I'm just waiting for TR map 3 and your trees. I haven't played since the beginning of 2007, so it has been hard to wait. :P

Yeah man, that looks great! Do you think it would work well with the snow actually modelled (as opposed to just textured) or would that make animation/polycount screwed up? Might also just be difficult!

Anyways, like always, it rocks hard dude!! :goodjob:

Just a thought, you could add a particle effect to some of the Solstheim trees like snow is falling off of the branches (especially if they're animated and swaying in the wind). Hollow_Fang made a mod that had http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7258 using particles, maybe you could steal his concept?

The new trees look great.
And it's good that the forest will be mixed. My favorite http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/2342/30305665.jpg. :)

Guitarjoe91: Unfortunately that woudlnt be possible, it would make them extremely demanding since there are so many branches and each would be very big (polygon wise).

Saint_jiub: Nice! He's just using the built in particle thingy, i think i'll see how that looks on the trees, thanks for the suggestion :)

Alan Brank : that's a good pic too, i have to shrink the fir-trees a bit i think + i need more twigs on that, uh, large spindley pine tree (whatever they're called again in english).
