[Wipz] Vurt Skies

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:57 pm

Some http://i45.tinypic.com/rjk2ew.jpg, will include new morrowind.ini weather settings as well (for MGE and Pechykeen's TrueBloom_g6_i6).

Edit: Pics above are now really outdated, i've redone the skies at least 5 times now.

Looks great, especially the Ash storm, but I think Snowy needs more cloud coverage.

I agree it looks great, but snow doesn't fall from those types of clouds. Not in any noticeable amount anyways.

true.. i could go for a pure white sky, but its just too boring imo. reality isnt necessarily always the best to copy :)

Alright, I'm convinced! This new shot of the Snow sky really shows it well. I think it works great.
But what does a Blizzard look like? Is there blue sky during Blizzard weather too?

I got permission from SWG to use and include his sky meshes, which is great and very nice of him :) I'm working on the night sky now, then i can release this.. the night sky is really difficult, SWG really did an excellent job with his..

Some shots of a new Cloudy sky:

http://piclair.com/data/e1bba90163fdb8d90328ef1520b914e0.png (day + showing off my leaf texture as well here ;) day sky color isnt tweaked for this sky yet )

edit:

I have at least 3 variations for every sky now (except night sky), i'm thinking of including these variations so people can choose the sky they like best.

These are looking great, including Blizzard.
I have never used SWG's skies (I use AOF's) because they are too much of a performance hit for my PC. How large are your textures going to be?

(I always wondered if your name was taken from Vurt. New avatar confirms it ;) )

Looking great. Just curious, what exactly is the advantage of having new sky meshes? How are they better?

Pluto: most will be 4096x4096, a few 2048x2048. Maybe i could create a pack with 512x512 or 1024x1024 textures as well since it'd only take me a few minutes, but that wont include a night sky since that one has to be 4096x4096. I've always had a feather as an avatar :) just not this particular one hehe

povuholo: The advantage is that the night sky can be 4096x4096 resolution and it just stretches, it doesnt repeat itself (look at SWG's night sky in his SWG' Skies 3). I know there are some cloud .nif's too, but i havent figured out what they do.

All of the sky meshes do that, no repitition, it allowed me to make fully unique skies. I had to do some repition in soem of the textures to reduce quality loss anyways, but a lot of them (clear, cloudy, etc.) were unique.

Good stuff Vurt. :)

Oh cr*p this is embarrasing, i have been missing the .nif that makes all other skies stretch over the entire sky! No wonder i wasnt so impressed with how some of your skies looked, lol :D I dont understand how that .nif has been missing and the night sky wasnt, i even had your fix for the night sky?! Crazy.

Gah, this kind of makes me wish i hadnt worked so hard on making my skies seamless, but i think i'm going to join a few of the similar themed ones to make some nice varied skies instead :) might release the seamless ones for people who want to use it without meshes and maybe in 512x512 or 1024x1024 resolution. We'll see. Good that you replied so i noticed it hehe

All the skies still need to be seamless, they still move across the sky.
