[WIPz] Vurt's Solstheim Tree Replacer

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 3:48 am

Tetchy: I agree.

SGmonkey: how do you mean i have them confused? We have lots of Fly Agaric shrooms (in latin "Amanita muscaria") in the woods here (when it's season) they live in symbiosis with pine trees usually, but can ofcourse sometimes be seen on other places as well.

If you're after opinions then mine is that the large 'shrooms are too much and that the small 'shrooms (as they are in http://piclair.com/data/axnkq.jpg) should be about 1/8 their current size (OK, 1/8 maybe a bit specific but a lot smaller) And sparsely scattered as Tetchy says.

Anyway, the rest of it looks yum

A Solstheim tree replacer? This is like a dream come true after I was working on landscaping an island that's mostly ice and snow, only to discover just how limited the tree options really were from Solstheim. They all basically looked the same when it came down to it. Definetely looking forward to this mod vurt - and the small mushrooms. :)

The shrooms under the trees are, as of now, a bit big, and yes i've been thinking about adding it to the grass but that's not really how the Amanita grows, they grow under pine trees usually. I could of course add another type of shrooms, we'll see..

2 more pics :)

I'm probly going to have to take out my expanded Skaal forest mod for this, but I don't even care, it will be so worth it.

I suppose it is a http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=3084 by Lochnarus you're talking about?
The first thing I thought of while reading through the topic was exactly the same- "Loch, man.. sorry, but looks like it's time to disable your old good creation.."

The updated pics look incredible! Any chance this will be a pluginless replacer? :D

just remove vurt_ from the file names and it'll be pluginless, shouldn't take you many seconds ;) same with the other mods (except you might miss out on a few extra trees or stuff that the .esp has added).

Felsaad Revamped is saved! :)
That's very good news, I think. I too would hate to have to choose between those two mods.

Great except the texture are too high a resolution! Not sure if Morrowind actually does this but there's this "shimmery" effect you get when a texture is a higher resolution than it's space on the screen, and it looks like that's what's happening here :cryvaultboy:

I go camping a lot and I like to lay under trees and look up. This is a magnificent shot.

I love that too Skydye :)

I've taken special care with those trees so that it looks good when you look up into the tree crowns. With the first trees i made, the Ascadian Isles trees, most trees looked ok from the side, but if you looked up from right under it looked terrible, like looking at paper clips, really immersion breaking.

New pics are so gorgeous Vurt, I think I'm gonna cry when you release this, its simply beautiful!

 What I really should have asked is if the new trees you are making are being kept to a similar scale as Bethesda's originals, or if the ESP will be required to ensure that there are no floaters? Of course in the end, it probably won't matter since I could always just combine it with another mod in order to use both. :P

They're taller but the z axis is kept just like the original so they shouldn't float no.

Are you planning on still maintaining some sense of an arctic tundra in the more snowy areas? I'm just wondering, but anyways looking really cool, Vurt!
