Great work as always! But I think the big mushrooms are way too big. They look almost half the size of that pine tree. I love the little ones though. I think the little ones are plenty to add a little color to Solstheim. :)

Tree's look excellent, not sure about the size of the shrooms though, but i do like the look of them. Maybe you'd be interested in sharing them bad boys for my Amanita mod? :P

After all, they are Fly Agaric mushrooms

I'd actually suggest keeping the mushrooms at various sizes, but possibly making them more in the color-scheme and style of the northern Vvardenfell ones. That way, the two islands would be ecologically tied somehow; right now, they might as well be entire worlds apart. I mean, they have totally different trees, creatures, and architectures. What Solstheim really needs is a small Redoran settlement or Velothi ruin on the southern side and a few scattered mushrooms segueing into the traditional forest.

I am not at all in favor of the mushrooms Vurt. I am for adding something, but I think the mushrooms have gotten played out in my personal opinion.

Btw, I tried making myself a pine tree in ngplant. It was terrible looking lol. You however, have done a magnificent job.

No, I disagree. If I want Morrowind, I walk around Morrowind. When I want Solstheim, i go to Solstheim.

Personally, I think the main game has enough giant mushrooms already. Adding something other than pine trees is a good idea though... What else might fit Solstheim besides mushrooms n' pines? Maybe some flowering/berry bushes? Cool rocks? http://kevinspence.com/IMGP1820.jpg%20albi.jpg I dunno...

The trees look very impressive, I'm not too sure about the big mushrooms, though. They seem a little out of place in the environment of Solstheim and also look too much like something from Vvardenfell, I wouldn't object to the small ones, though, it would add a bit more variety to the place, in any case. And the rest, like I said, looks great.

I think so too.

Solstheim is kinda a mix of Morrowind and Skyrim, I think it should have the larger mushrooms on atleast the southern ends of the island, with them getting smaller and less common the further up you go. The more north (or east) you go should look more and more like Skyrim.

The mushroom mesh does look out of place though, by that I mean the actual mesh, or maybe the texture, I think it would stick out even in Vvardenfell ATM, it has potential to blend in though, but I don't know what would make it do that.

There is a reason I never make textures for Bloodmoon. It's too boring with pine trees and snow. When you think of Vurt... think creativity. Add whatevery you like. When it comes down to it, a modder has to please himself first....You'll never please everyone, you'll only fail to please anyone for trying.

He did however, in the op, ask for input on the matter. That being said however, I honestly don't care either way, due to the simple fact that if I like what I see, but have issues with something small like mushrooms, I'll download the mod, and edit it myself in the CS to remove what I don't like for my own game....same with textures, if I don't like one in a texture pack, I remove it, and use a different one, its pretty simple...or at least I think it is.

My bad.. I just looked at the mushrooms... read some guy saying don't use mushrooms and I posted. I never read Vurt's post. This will teach me a lesson for posting on two cups of coffee. :blush2:

Maybe I haven't been to the frozen island in the north in a long time, but I don't remember Solsthiem having mushrooms at all.
I say leave the mushrooms out, but OMGOMGOMG Vurt's doing the Sol trees! :celebration:

Stuporstar: they big ones are in fact small compared to other big shrooms in MW ;)

SGMonkey: Sure, when i'm finished with the mod you're free to use them
as a resource for your mod if you want. Nice idea for a mod btw, i've
read a lot about the Amanita Muscaria, very interesting to read about, how they might even have affected how we celebrate Christmas (we put our christmas presents under the pine tree - where the amanita grows, traditionally we used red/white colors for the packaging, etc etc)

skydye: I did take a (very) short break lol.. I even finished playing
Mass Effect hah (kind of "meh" game, no exploring like in Bethesda's games).

Zackg: Yeah they're not the easiest trees to make, well, they're kind of easy to make but hard to make look natural.

ZesvotzashniSinkunndaijari, Vrenir and others: Thanks for input. When i
look at them now after a night of sleep i have a different opinion, and
i think agree they look too out of place, at least the big ones. I might try a different texture or shape and if it looks good enough i'll make it into an optional .esp.

I do think Fly Agaric shrooms fits well in that kind of environment though, they ususally grow under pine trees. I think i want a kind of "dark fairy tale" style for the green parts of Solstheim, the Amanita shrooms is an important ingredient for that ;)

I don't think the mushrooms should go in either. They're more suited to the mainland. I agree with what was said about wanting Solsthiem and Vv at different times. I too like to keep my Solsthiem separate from my Vv. But it does need something. Also, remember that its supposed to be inhospitable.

I like the small mushrooms around the trees. I don't think mushrooms like that are very Vvardenfell at all, honestly. They look exactly like what they are, small mushrooms that grow in subarctic climates. I might suggest making them smaller even than they are now, however. I don't want to be overpowered by the mushrooms, when it should be about the trees and snow. One thing you might consider doing is add some small mushrooms to your groundcover mod for Solstheim (make a texture that includes them, I mean, and put them somewhat sparsely in with just the grass and flowers), so they are more populous throughout the grassed parts of the island without having huge, individually modeled 'shrooms everywhere.

Nice, that was indeed just a short break from modding ;). Better for us who enjoy your beautiful trees. Although I don′t like the big mushrooms, but the small ones under the tree are ok with me.

The shrooms under the trees are, as of now, a bit big, and yes i've been thinking about adding it to the grass but that's not really how the Amanita grows, they grow under pine trees usually. I could of course add another type of shrooms, we'll see..

2 more pics :)

The diversity of conifers is very nice vurt!
I agree that any mushrooms would look better if kept to a small unassuming size, especially colorful ones like those. Having just a bit of that bright red catch your eye without drawing attention to itself would be welcome and a nice contrast against the whites and greenwood of Solstheim.

Adding mushrooms to the textures for the grass meshes might be problematic for those who wish to animate the grass thru MGE. Mushrooms usually don't sway in the breeze. <_<

I think you may be gtting confused with other Agaric mushrooms. The Fly Agaric is the common name for Amanita Muscaria :)

Very nice looking trees btw :)
