[WIPz] Vvardenfell Glass

Post » Sun Apr 24, 2011 11:43 pm

Wow! The armor looks really good! Any news on progress?
Well, themythofstrider showed the progress on the bulk of the weapon textures. During this process, we've found some issues I'd like to correct with some of the models (and some idea improvements) but the temp PC I was hoping to get some modeling done on tends to reboot itself for no apparent reason. It did this with the Win7 RC and the fresh copy of WinXP I put on it. ** shrug ** I am starting to re-focus my effort on http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=140552 and will hopefully have all the parts before the end of this year.

Hey guys. Just a friendly bump- if there is any new information, better this post stays at the top so it's easily found.

Incidentally, anyone hear anything?

Where are you going with that? Conan_Lon said he will release it. If it takes another year so be it, I'm sure the result will be worth it.

Mod Varient #2 - Oblivion Glass Replacer
- Meshes and Green textures placed and named exactly like Oblivion glass armor which will replace Oblivion Glass with Vvardenfell Glass.
- No .esp required...thus no stat changes or anything...just a visual change.
- Estimated Size: Uncompressed: 30 MB, Compressed: 3 MB

Generally I'm not one to complain about mod releases taking a long time, and I mean no disrespect, but why is this taking years to release? I'm fairly certain you have almost everything necessary for the basic replacer, maybe a female variant is needed, but still, people make and release those tweaks on their own for their favorite body most of choice I can promise that someone will do that for a mod so high profile as this.

So what if the replacer comes out before the whole quest version, at the launch of the quest version a lot of people will just cheat to get the armor anyway.

I agree as well. To be honest I think it is not fair to hold back the meshes and textures made by JCarl and Grimdeath for such a long time. The armor was ready to release two years ago already. And that's what we all want in our games, nothing else. Sure, you promised to make a quest and I'd love to see a nice quest made by you. But I don't think the armor creators thought it would take years for you to do so when you agreed to work on it. We all have a real life and sometimes you just can't mod as much as you'd like to. But your progress is almost zero and it doesn't seem as if we would see a release during the next two years either. If you had made the armor then it would be 100% your decision wether you release it now or later or never and I wouldn't say a word. But it was made by other persons who (sadly) aren't part of this community anymore. I say you either release it now as a replacer or a simple 'chest in IC Market District' mod or you let someone else work on it who has a good reputation and promises to get the mod done in less then three months. Everything else is not fair, neither towards the creators of the armor nor towards the community.

This post wasn't meant as an offense, I like the mods you made and you generally seem to be a very helpful and nice person. I just think no one should sit on a great, much anticipated resource made by someone else as long as you do. At some point you simply have to admit that you are not able to do what you have in mind within a reasonable amount of time.

I agree here. And I'm one of the few that were involved years ago and have had access to at least the dev version all this time. I'm therefore not agreeing on my own behalf.

look at the bright side it might be ready just before the release of ES 5 so you can use it when getting pumped up for the new release ! (and hopefully porting them from OB to the new game will be an option)

First I didn't want to say something because modders are free to take all the times they want to release or not "because they are free too to change their minds" their mods.
But in this time of female only mods which are everywhere, having something nice for our Lads is like XMas gift lol !
I know in the second it will be released all the females bodies versions will be released so ................

Most of all the others Morrowind armours released have been done without quest.

So I join the general last opinions about RL that mod.

A female version of the light armor is conspicuously missing. I agree, after an initial public release one would likely get made very quickly. I can't imagine this mod having that kind of momentum before then though; it has simply lost too much.

He's around. I put in some work to texture a set of weapons to match the armor. I believe his computer met its untimely end and he's waiting on a new one.

As far as the armor being released, Lhammonds (conan_lon) seems to be a very helpful gentleman in my limited interactions with him. The perfectionist in me says a mod like this should not be released until it's done (the end) and from what I saw it's still missing some important things (shields, female versions of the light and heavy sets and some other odds and ends).

But! the next ES game is on its way and a mod like this will be be obsolete once that happens. So if it were me I'd probably release a beta version now, and pass the mod on to others who can get the rest of the work done in a month or so. Who knows with a mod this highly anticipated we could get some really talented authors to finish this off (points at helborne).

Also in defense of Lhammonds, he WAS trying to get this thing moving in the right direction not too long ago and I really belive he only has the best intentions. If it wasn't for some real life obligations and a dead computer this thing might be released already.

I personally don't even want a replacer or multiple colours, I don't even care about the weapons. I just want one set of green Vvardenfell style glass to display in my house with my other Vvardenfell armour sets. I've been waiting years for something thats actually been complete for years. I'd be happy just to buy it from a merchant and be on my way. Oh well.

Heard and understood. Sorry.

I am working on http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=140552 so that my modding can pick back up. And on another note, my wife is just about finished with her PhD which she has been working on for the last two years. This (along with all the children in my house) is why I have not had much time for anything...well, the dead PC sure didn't help. My home office has turned into a cob web of junk storage that needs to be featured on an episode of "Clean Sweep"

The project will continue very soon.
