Yea a strong ashlander leader uniting all the tribes and holding out a resistance against the 3 houses that are desperate for resources which are less and less by the day, that could work.

I'm not sure what the thieves guild could do or the twin lamps. Mages guild have a purpose and the fighters guild i just see them being a mercenary arm of the legion.

Isn't that sorta what the Nerevarine is?

I would totally go Nordic Raiders. That or Telvanni

He's gone.

As for the Telvanni, I want them to be much less unified than Hlaalu or Redoran. Just a few mage lords who use the populace to prop themselves up. You'd almost be acting as your own faction.

I know he's gone, supposedly to Akavir, but the Ashlanders rallied around him/her, I don't think they would just give their alliegeance to some new guy. I could see a more loose confederation with the Ashkhans having a council of sorts though.

That's kind of what I was thinking.

I also want to add a horror feel to it all. It's not just going to be squaking scamps out there.

I haven't done a RP in literally ages, tuned out of these forums for a long time - but this seems like a pretty solid rp idea. I'd love to give it a shot. If it gets a proper start I'll be on everyday.

I'd be up for Telvanni or Hlaalu, I know the ins and outs of those houses quite well and enjoy playing those sorts of conniving, secretive, plotting characters.

I'm hoping he's talking about the people left not only crazy - but now leaderless - by Dagoth Ur. Whatever happened to all those people he drove crazy in the Dunmer-Trash backwater towns, huh? Yeah. They like their siblings. They don't like strangers, oh no. And by all means, no House-bred scum are going to come in and cause some trouble.

Oh, sign me up for Redoran probably. :) Redoran or Hlaalu, I think.

EDIT: Yeah, and that bat[censored] crazy thing from deviantART.

That's screwed up man.

You could also try something like lairs of spider daedra. Also, all the old Daedra Ruins across the island, those things could act as something along the line daedra lairs or mini gates.

I don't know if I'd join this given I'm rather busy at the moment, but it does seem like a pretty interesting idea, and there'd be no end to the side plots one could milk from it.

Maybe in adding to the factions you could have the Mythic Dawn causing trouble. They might be more concerned with placing moles in the hierarchy of the other factions and attempting to play up the tension between the Great houses so they focus just as much of their resources on fighting with each other as they do fighting the Daedra threat. Maybe throw in a few of the six house true believers, who believe that Dagoth Ur's not really gone and this Oblivion invasion is heralding his return in some way.

on a more serious note... how are the daedra going to work? are they just going to randomly pop up... or will they have a more organised agenda?

That would probably all be orchatrated by whomever gets the job of General of the Daedric invasion force.

I think i'll just have one person sort of orchestrate the daedra. Things can change. The oblivion crisis is the setting, not the whole purpose. The purpose is to make sure your house has the resources it needs to survive this daedric assault. For example with all the telvanni busy floating about taking daedric artifacts maybe some of their ports can be destroyed by the hlaalu via hired nord raider mercenaries so when all of this blows over they'll have a monopoly on the shipping industry on the island. Maybe with the Hlaalu busy, the Redoran can take their mine back.

As for "what we'll be doing, armies or adventure etc." We'll be doing everything and anything. I put no limits on people concerning what genre they want to pull in. It will be politics just as much as it is adventure or stealth or military or anything you can conjure.

I second that motion.

Its going to be great to watch all the politcal strife and what not, then watch it again as daedra suddenly pop up and [censored] things up for every one.. I'd like to see how people will react in situations once things which where great go [censored] up.

So far I have asked a few people to be leaders. Hlaalu will be run by Solidor, Redoran by Storyteller and myself for Telvanni. With Telvanni it will be less centralized but the other two will be more traditional in organization.

I want to ask you guys what you think about RPing actual NPCs from the game if possible. I'm allowing multiple characters.
