[WIP] Vvardenfell Riverbeds

Vvardenfell Riverbeds

Here's the low-down. One day, I was just walking through Balmora--or...running, who the hell walks anymore? Anyway, I was running through Balmora and I happened to hear the long sigh or the silt strider. That reminded me of my task: go to The Rat in the Pot. Well, I immediately started that way. The problem? I fell into the canol. Yeah, with a low acrobatics, I was pissed. But then I looked down into my beautiful water caustics and realized. "This [censored] landscape is [censored] terrible. Did Bethesda randomly generate this [censored]?" I immediately saved my game and fired up the beaten and worn CS. It was then, at the turning of the tide(very punny!), that my little project was born!

Description:

Of course, the aim of this mod is to fix the jagged landscaping in the rivers. Then to clutter them up accordingly and make them...interesting to say the least. And by interesting I mean more dangerous. No longer will you fall in a river and trot out with nothing but a bad memory. You won't die, it's not that bad, but it's more realistic. You knew that, right? Gods, I hope so. Well, the current public file only fixes the Balmora canol. No clutter there because it's a canol. However, my own file fixes the whole river and more. The first *official release* wil fix the whole southern section of Vvardenfell. That is to say, below the line in this pic:

Keep in mind that this is done in free time and such. Which is all day everyday.
ANYWAY, before the cluttering starts, I will release a private beta to interested parties to make sure the rivers are smooth enough. Then after cluttering, another beta will ensue. The public releases will contain a section of Vvardenfell's rivers all fixed and cluttered. A full map of releases can be found here:

http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u497/Hayabusa153/Personal%20Junk/morrowindmap-1.jpg

As you can see, I'm letting the cluster screw of islands wait till last. Not much work should have to be done, but scanning for errors to fix in the first place will be a she-dog.

Requirements:

Morrowind

Texture Fix 2.0

Compatibility:

I don't care if you love a mod so much that you'd die for it. (In which case you need to die anyways ) I'm not really planning on making a special version for certain mods. If you use a mod that alters the cells containing rivers, too bad. Now I MIGHT make special versions if you're nice. I like NoM as well as anyone and would hate to get rid of it. I don't use it RIGHT now but still. I use multiple saves...I also like some other mods as well. So, maybe NoM gets a special patch, eh? MAYBE. :stare:

DOWNLOAD BALMORA Canol FIX HERE: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=41851 It needs Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon. The "real" release will not.

Before is on the right, after is on the left. Screenies of the rest of the river later!!!

Anyone else realize that this is my first public mod? How neat.

I 'd recommend that you load Texture Fix 2.0 or any future releases in the construction set when making mods of this type else you will import all the landscape texture seams from vanilla Morrowind into your mod , which for anyone using texture replacers your mod will be doing more harm than good.

I like the idea. I'll wait until it's done to DL it though.

Hmm, actually I remember a mod coming out recently that did just this. The guy had started fixing the jagged river beds and planned to go on to other places aside from Balmora. I forget the name though. May have been smooth sea beds or something.

As for the textue seams, it is easy enough just to load it before the texture fix. It might be nice though if something like this could just be combined with the texture fix and landscaping fixes and just called the MW landscape overhall or something like that.

Oh well. I AM going on to the whole of Vvardenfell. So far I have fixed whole balmora area and have started on the Ebonheart area. Moving east. I have had this idea for ages and recently decided to do it.

looks good. but i use a mod that changes the river already. however. i just'll throw this out, while your fixing the roughness, why not clutter it up as well. And make it a total river overhaul. rocks, logs plants, fishies. the whole nine yards. (make work, make work...I am a very bad man)

Let's not get carried away. That sounds more like two mods, one based on the other. One just to fix the rivers, the other to expand on them.

Certainly, they are in the OP.

OP has been updated. Screens up. I left out a HUGE detail.

*And by interesting, I mean more dangerous. No more will you just randomly fall in a river without consequences. The famous ankle-biter of the sea is now more numerous!!!*

The ones on the left are the "after" pictures, correct? Because they usually go on the right side.

I like the smoother look, it makes me realize just how horrible some of the landscape can be.

Glad to hear I'm not alone thinking that jagged terrain is awefull.. I'm almost done with the entire Island for Rebirth, but then it's not only riverbeds. Takes a lot of time! :P

I love rebirth. And yes, I hate seeing jagged land as well! Every time I see it, I wanna completely smooth over the Island. Rebirth already does the dirty work for me! :P

*UPDATE*
No screens yet. I'm lazy. :P

Progress is coming along nicely and so far, The whole eastern area of the first release is smoothed over. Just past Ebonheart. Yeah, Ebonheart had a boat-load of jags.

Yes I think Texture Fix is an essential mod, like the MPP.

Yeah, all it does is fix the unblended seams in the textures. It helps immersion by a long shot. Hated when I'd be traveling down a road and BAM! Seam. No transition.

 I never really cared about the small-details. Hence why I am not a perfectionist unless I am making it public where the smallest details are criticized.

Well, you will notice a good difference if you try it. See, we, the community as a whole, prefer our games to not look all fake and such. Your choice. Anyways, this is all off-topic.

Indeed it is; But as for this mod. Well done. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed your little story of how you stumbled into river of Balmora, that WAS FUNNY.

I don't think their rivers are as bad...I haven't checked. I could probably clutter them more like I will Vvardenfell. I'm not gonna worry about TR for now, though. Maybe in the future when all our releases are out. So...not any time soon.

Yes, Khan. I thought you knew this. I was recently promoted for interiors. This weekend I was promoted in SHotN and P:C as well. I haven't really claimed anything yet, but I got in the habit pretty fast at TR. Vvardenfell Riverbeds will slow in development when that load of interiors gets opened at SHotN. For now, progress is steady on this. :P Expect screens this weekend of the Ascadian Isles/Odai River!
