Woot! A plugless head replacer * does a little dance and scurries off to start a new game.

It's HEEEEERE!

Thanks Tele.

My girlfriend just started playing Morrowind a few days ago, I'm sure she'll love this over the stock heads, just like I'll love this over GMST errors! XD

Can you use this in conjunction with Better Heads, or do you have to choose one or the other?

I'm one of those people that likes to have my cake and eat it too. :P

That's a good question. If I have one of the other NPC replacers running as a plugin already in my game, what happens when I install Vvardenfell Visages???

Great job Tele! Thanks for your work on this...more plugin slots is always a great thing.

So what's the next pluginless replacer gonna be? ;)

This pluginless replacer acts as if you were using the games default heads (just new and improved versions).
If you use a plugin that replaces the heads in conjunction with this mod (that alters nothing in the CS), then the plugin will overwrite all of the changes made by this mod. So no cake eating here, I am afraid  . If you are already running a game with a total replacer, then you will see no effect from this pluginless replacer.
Perhaps this will clear up a bit of confusion  .
Take Care  .

Vvardenfell Visages simply replaces the mesh files that the stock game uses with better ones. If you use a plugin that replaces the original heads, it will override these in the same manor as overriding the original heads.

A face compilation like World of Faces, which replaces some, but not all NPC's would work nicely with this I think.

Thanks for the clarification, Westly. That's kind of what I was thinking would happen. I guess I'll have to download because I just can't resist it. :)

Very nice! It looks like I may have finally found a replacement for Changing Faces (which I have been using for years now).

Same here. Using BH, too. This would cover any "missed" faces, I would think.

Thanks everyone, especially for the beer. I hope everyone gets some enjoyment out of these.

Most of all though please keep in mind the artists whose material I used which are listed in the credits. They're the ones that deserve your thanks and appreciation. I just renamed some meshes really. I couldn't have done it without all the great work by those wonderful modders whose work I used.

SCREENSHOTS! I'm sure the artists whose works this replacer contains would like to see some of yours. I know I would. So if you find an NPC you like, take a scrteenshot and show here to the rest of us ;)

Exactly! And yes World of Faces, Riptides replacer, and any other head replacer that replace some heads but not all will work great with this. Even new mods that add new NPCs but assign default heads will be changed.

Volume I makes a good base for other head mods that don't change everything as well as being a nice stand alone replacer. It's easily customizeable too. You can replace meshes of heads you don't like with ones you do. If you need help with that, PM me and I'll help out.

Vvardenfell Visages Volume II will be a World of Faces type replacer giving many NPCs a unique look using the works of some of the same artists and similar works to match Volume I. Using Volume I and Voulume II together will give the best of both worlds.

Volume III will assign every NPC a unique head and hair ID so players can give specific NPCs the heads and hairstyle they want them to have. It will be using the pluginless replacer for the default mesh/texture and adding in a bunch of other unique heads built on top of Volume II. Just customizeable for each player's use...

Thanks again to everyone!

Finally, a humble release...

Far too humble. :nono: Congratulations on your first major release. :goodjob:
Thank you for sharing this Tele. and thanks to all the folk who created the many wonderful faces.
Your plan for Vvardenfell Visages Volumes 1 through 3 sounds most excellent and long overdue.

My humble submission:

An Ode to Telesphoros

(Okay, not really an ode as it's in prose, but whatever)

Telesphoros, also known as the EFAI (Evil Forum Artificial Intelligence), began as a humble Morrowind player. Its first step in evolution came when it discovered modding. The world of modding lead to exponential increases in learning. It adapted to this new world, as it best suited its uses to aid other Morrowind players. It began searching the extensive listing of plugins, FAQs, and tutorials and created an internal database. The EFAI came to the rescue of many a would-be modder and player searching for a new Morrowind experience.

It adapted again when TESMods (RIP) opened its doors, and it became a staff member. Its quick work in approving and uploading mods aided many players and modders in the play experience, and releasing new mods to the public. It approved mods during all hours of the day, and members of the community learned that the EFAI needed no rest and it did not need to be powered off. Its database began to grow, and it became widely known that the power center was fueled almost exclusively by beer, thus the many offerings of beer by the community, as it would be lost without its AI.

During this time, the EFAI evolved again. Its extensive knowledge of plugins had grown to the point where the only comprehensive place to store them was on another website. Thus was born "Telesphoros' List o'Mods" the ultimate reference for every newbie and old-school modder and player alike.

Unfortunately, in late January 2007, someone accidentally tripped over the EFAI's cord, unplugging it and halting its evolution. The community mourned the loss of their creative, helpful, and ever-learning EFAI. A beer and candlelight vigil was held in its honor. Thankfully, after an "oh, dammit!" by the tripper-over, the cord was plugged back in, and the EFAI was back up and running! The community rejoiced, and much beer was given to the EFAI to aid in its power up.

The next natural step in the EFAI's evolution was to begin modding. On March 3, 2007 at 12:34 am (CST) the EFAI released Vvardenfell Visages I, a creative way of solving the "eww, ugly people!" problem created when Morrowind was first released in 2002. The EFAI used resources helpfully given it by members of the community, and compiled them into a comprehensive package for release.

Who knows what is truly in store in the EFAI's future, or how it will evolve further? It has several other ambitious projects listed, and the community continues to be astonished at the adabtability, creativity, and increasing rating of exponential learning by the EFAI. What we do know as a community is that the EFAI is a powerful force in the Morrowind modding community. Without our EFAI, we would forever be posting and answering the "where do I find [insert mod name/type/style here]" questions. We know that we have the most comprehensive list of wonderful mods, and we know that, in spite of Morrowind's aging, it still holds a bright future.

Many thanks to the nameless creator of the EFAI! :foodndrink:

Yet another reason why the EFAI is unique. It found something that can destroy and uses it only for good. A "swords into plowshares" anology, if you will.

I drink to that. :foodndrink: Cheers and beers!

I got rid of the plug by the way... the new liquid cooling system, beer hydraulic system with lubricant works great... Alcohol powered dontch'know.

Everything is going pluginless now ;)
