to WAC or not to WAC that is the question?

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 8:03 pm

Yes well as the title says I wanted to get some opinions about WAC from some players before I go and mess with my current setup

I know this is all very relevant to personal tastes but I would like to hear some opinions about this mod

I guess these would be my questions

1. How does it stack up against- Frans or OOO or MMM- as far as content added

2. What is your favorite aspect of WAC

3. What is your least favorite part of WAC

and I thank you in advance for any comments or answers

peace

1. It far outshines them IMO
2. Integrates well. Everything looks awesome. Realistic looking creatures, weapons, armour, ect. Also, the little hidden surprises, I'm constantly discovering new stuff
3. ...

Likes:

Druids that heal you
Added travellers
NPC diversity
Some weapons and armor

Dislikes

Some creatures do not fit into the game for me like crossbred creaturs and dinosaur type creatures
Weapon stats seem off for many of them
Armor stats seem off

With that said, it is a neat experience to play and definitely worth it. Once finished I think it will be a great piece of work.

First of all I will say I'm using WAC with Oblivion Warcry: New Dimension and with a bashed patch they work very well together.

1. I keep encountering new types of wildlife and new enemy types, variety seems endless especially compared to FCOM which seems extremely limited in comparison.

2. New creatures, armors and weapons, all very detailed models with just the right amount of difficulty.

3. Some parts of WAC are still unfinished so their may be a few glitches and a few bugs that prevent certain things like WAC Gladiator preventing the player from becoming the grand champion of the arena, still for everything it does right the small glitches are very easy to overlook.

Overall I am very impressed and Oblivion Warcry New Dimension with WAC together are what I always hoped Oblivion would be like. The game is still hard but not impossible and you will run into a great variety of weapons and items including Deadric and Glass weaponry right from the start if you know where to look but the items are well balanced so you won't really find overpowered gear.

Pros
New stuff!
New enemies
Easier to install than FCOM.

Cons
still in beta :(
Still finding incompatibilities
Patches for BC,UL, quest mods have not been made to the extent of mods like OOO/MMM.
Stability can be in question (then again, how stable is FCOM at times?)

One thing to keep in mind is that all of WAC's creatures have set levels, they don't level with the player.

My only complaint is some of the creatures are kind of silly, for example the giant green she-demons with melon tiits. For the most part the creature choices are pretty great, though. I enjoy seeing roadrunners zooming about all the time, hehe.

I'll say mine about #2 and #3.

#2 Favourite aspects: Definitely a plethora of various animals, from real ones to imaginary ones and in between. Then, atmosphere clutter like watch towers, torture devices etc. Many new weapons, armour, NPC looks like beards, etc...

#3 Least favourite: The weapons and armours are not balanced. They are often overpriced and overpowered. Or too cheap and too powerful. Things like hides and game don't have functionality. Some creatures are a bit over the top.

Anyway, in my opinion, Positive aspects are way higher then those 'negative'. I recommend at least trying it.

FCOM and Oblivion Warcry New Dimension + WAC are about the same to me. I almost never get crashes with either but I usually save and restart the game every hour to clear out the memory catch. Game works this way and it only takes about 30 seconds to restart in Vista.

I like Warcry + WAC a lot better then FCOM mostly because I've played FCOM to death and FCOM is much more annoying leveling wise.

Of course I probably wouldn't need to clear my catch out every hour if I didn't use intense graphic replacers like Qarl's Texture pack, but the game looks fantastic so I can't really complain about pushing a 5 year old game to it's limits and honestly I think it looks every bit as good as most modern games if not better.
