Wait, did I just figured there are no Iron Sights...again?!?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 12:02 pm

To summerize this thread for those who are just tuning in.

The OP (original poster) claims that in seeing 10 gameplay videos there was zero Aim Down Sights. He is swiftly proven to be completely wrong with gameplay footage, besides the fact there are not even 10 different gameplay videos.

The OP then changes his stance. Now he assumes that every single weapon that has not explicitly been demonstrated in gameplay footage to have Aim Down Sight, does not have Aim Down Sight. Confirmation that a weapon does have mods for iron sights are not accepted as proof, only gameplay footage showing the weapon with Aim Down Sight is accepted.

Since the OP has given no evidence at all that a large portion of firearms will only be scope or hip-fire, my personal conclusion is that the OP has an irrational fear that a lot of firearms will just be hip-fired and is looking for absolute confirmation that this is not the case so he can put these fears to rest.

I'm just really concerned their shoelaces aren't properly tied. Given this new sprint mechanic, we have the possibility for some very nasty falls. @gstaff @toddthegoddhoward can we get some info here? I need info and I'm all that matters

You forget he would also accept a Bethesda developer personally guaranteeing him that all guns do indeed have ADS.

I mean that's not much to ask right?

Yeah, I still don't get the while immersion thing either. You're sitting in a chair in front of a computer or a TV playing a video game. How immersive is it really?

I'm guessing he going to use VR thingamajig to immerse himself.

Thats why it's a deal breaker for him if all guns don't have iron sight and if they don't he's cancelling his preorder.

Of course there will be iron sights.

Bethesda has demonstrated that iron sights is a thing. They've claimed they are taking the shooting/combat aspects very serious, and have demonstrated this by showing us things like grenade hotkey, hold-breath when using a scope, iron sights, quick melee, improved physics, and more.

The idea that the vast majority of guns could only be hip fired or have scoped sights is just preposterous.

If it is true that you need guns with iron sight modifications to have iron sights, then just apply that modification to your other weapons too.

(It sounds great to have it as an optional game mechanic though, I hope it is true. It could be an elegant answer to the hip fire vs. iron sights debate.)

Judging your skills by that response I think you probably will need to. You want to be capable of hitting something...no one likes ragequits...;)

"One does not simply walk into such a debate about Fallout 4. Its expansive world is guarded by more than just perks. There is evil there that does not sleep. And the great Eye of Todd is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland. Riddled with fire and ash and dust, and of course, bottle caps. The very words you speak are subjective and crude. Not with ten thousand threads could you do this..."

For the love of god, this is still going on? I can't believe I've read all five pages of this.

I swear this topic is giving me a headache. I won't point out who is causing this pain because it is obvious but I am out of here.

People, showing physical evidence has failed, common reason has failed, valid argument points has failed. The best option for this topic to is lock it, leave it, or just deal with it.

Since I can't deal with it and I do not have the power to lock it, I guess that just ends me with leaving it. I am glad no one is forcing me to be here and that my missing presence will effect no one.

I bid you adieu, friends. Don't bother quoting me cause I won't bother reading it. May seem like [censored] way to leave but honestly I suggest others do it as well because this topic is going no where...

...or post so much so that it reaches the post limit and gets locked.

But maybe there'll be plastic sights? Or maybe even steel sights? That'd be cool, huh? Platinum sights maybe?

I think the most ironic thing about this thread is the OP tells people they won't understand because they don't use guns in real life, yet he doesn't even know the correct terminology.

It has iron sights, you can aim down the barrel, roll out.

Lol,I wonder if Bethy adds a easter egg in a DLC about this topic.

You come upon a random encounter what appears to be a man arguing with a crowd......You get the gist.

Basically, what the OP wants is for the rear sight to be in the middle of the screen when you enter ADS mode, and for the front sight to be lined up with the rear sight. He wants this because it makes it feel like he's the one holding the weapon, that he's actually aiming the weapon properly so that he can hit his target. It's about feeling like he's actually in the Boston Wasteland, instead of just pressing buttons on a controller or Mouse.

Personally, I hope that either there is no proper Iron Sight mode, or that they have massively overhauled the version of the system that was used in New Vegas. I tried the True Iron Sights mode there, but every time I did, I came across a weapon that made me immediately switch the mode back off. Peep sights, for example, took up so much screen space that it was almost impossible to hit a moving target. They would move out of view of the sight, and everything else was immediately hidden by the rest of the sight. Had they run over to a hallway, or stopped to take cover at a desk or table? You couldn't tell without unscoping, finding your target again, then rescoping, which gave your target more time to move again. I don't mind the idea of Iron Sights, but they'd have to be a lot better than the ones in New Vegas before I'll use them.
