i mean, is it just me or in every es game the king/emporer is dead or you never get to meet them, what if i want to assassinate a king, or take his place, or do his biding? idk how to do polls so put a yes/no before your post, do u want a live king?
My question has always been this: If the bad guy has skilled and powerful enough assassins to take out a heavily guarded (by supposedly elite forces) and important emperor, why the hell can't he just send those same assassins to squash a level 1 PC who is nothing more than a prisoner?
@madmab the emporer was not that interesting. then he died. @steempunk the setting of skyrim is that: "The high king of skyrim has been murdered and the empire is in chaos"

The MQ in oblivion was you running errands for the emporer
It was just never important man. In skyrim, I am guessing the point of the game is to try to stop the civil war that is happening. Defeats the point if the king is not dead, this all follows the lore
