Daggerfall had a ton of royalty, although not many assassination options. TES III Tribunal included the King of Morrowind.

In the Tribunal expansion you could talk to the [censored] King of Morrowind

Unless there is a seance that wasn't going to work... (The Emperor died right in front of you during the beginning of the game)

He's the king of his own world. I think that qualifies for royalty.

Maybe we will meet the King of Skyrim. Or One of the Mede Emperors.

Still, meeting demi-gods, daedric princes, and aedric spirits makes meeting a mortal king a little underwhelming.

My question has always been this: If the bad guy has skilled and powerful enough assassins to take out a heavily guarded (by supposedly elite forces) and important emperor, why the hell can't he just send those same assassins to squash a level 1 PC who is nothing more than a prisoner?

@madmab the emporer was not that interesting. then he died. @steempunk the setting of skyrim is that: "The high king of skyrim has been murdered and the empire is in chaos"

Being the hero of the game you're going to be more kick ass than the king anyway, so why would you want to meet someone so insignificant?

The king of Skyrim has been assassinated, I'm sure he had some kind of family or court.

It was just never important man. In skyrim, I am guessing the point of the game is to try to stop the civil war that is happening. Defeats the point if the king is not dead, this all follows the lore

Yeah, this would be nice, but there are people contending for the throne, aka empire and rebels, that you can interact with.
