Who are you? Bob Kotick?

Never heard of a Robert Kotick. The name is Mala...

I trust Bethesda to have enough passion in the series to do the right thing.

yes. yes i do. Bloodmoon anybody? When I played Bloodmoon, i liked it partly because it was something new. All the snow, and nordic influence. Now its just plain played out. The only difference is that im 21 now instead of 13 when i first played it...

Alright, I never played Bloodmoon, but I heard its a pretty cool landscape, and Skyrim would have more Nordic influences and maybe fjords, ice gullys and suchwhat. Enough to keep you interested.

One word....OBLIVION

Because Great forests, snowy mountains, gold mountains and golden beaches are all the same.
yes it was less than 24 hours ago. 11.11.11 is nearly a full year from now, which isnt bad but 6 years for the next installment of TES? Keep making excused for them and wait til 2021 for TES 6 if it comes out at all..

Beth would of have taken a break after Oblivion, then they did FO3, then theyw ere developing a game which I'm sure will be incredibly awesome, and the wait for the 11th of November is to create hype for the gaming community.

I have to agree entirely with this, heck I just finished my game deign degree and the final was to as a group create a video game, we build the engine and then add content so you could wander the maps but there was nothing but floor. I have to say they already have the quests written, they just need to copypasta them over to the quest items and prefect dialogue, etc.

"jar of mayonnaise", had to think about that for a second...but I believe they are going to change something on us, like volcanic springs that heat up a lot of the area or something because the "jar of mayonnaise" would be boring to even create let alone play so expect to be surprised at what they come up with (maybe magical heating or something).

Edit: I also look forward to an eventuall Black Marsh game, see as even in the lore(http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-third-edition-war-trees-argonia-and-black-marsh), it hasn't been fully explored by anyone but the Argonian and just as dangerous.

While I used Black Marsh as an example, I would look forward to a game set there too. TES4 was good for setting up suspense and speculations as to what occured in other regions. I understand why we wouldnt go back to morrowind in TES5, the books are good enough. But IMO Black Marsh or Summerset Isles would have been great choices.

I'd like to see them in TESVI/VII, I just dont think they could do them justice right now (especially the Summerset Isles)

I loved bloodmoon when i played it and it was/is cool. But as an expansion. A standalone giant version of Bloodmoon wouldve been too much too little.

Not literally the same. But when you go into Oblivion portals..yeah it all looks the same. Looked in boxed and crates?..Its basically the same ish. The towns and villages basically look fantasy "un"inspired. Play Morrowind, Blood Moon, Tribunal, Redguard. Shivering Isles was nice though. I cant really complain about that. Dont get me wrong I dont think Oblivion svcked, not by a long shot.

I hated Oblivion (the place) it was frustrating, and a lot of the gates looked the same. The towns in OB needed improvement, they were quite small, but overall, I liked the look of them.

you're probably right. But I dont see how they could even fit TES5 on a standard DVD if the graphics are so great, but lol i dont wanna open that can of worms. Im hoping for the best

It doesn't bother me, what bothers me is the fact that Skyrim is smaller then Cyrodil
if they make the map smaller then Oblivions map I'm going to be [censored] pissed.
But they aren't going to do that, or else.. :toughninja:

@Vladimirvask, Wouldn't you prefer a huge-but-less-giant-than-Oblivion Map but not random generated over an Oblivion-sized map but random generated?

If there's anything people can agree on about Bethesda, it's that they make some of the best sandbox games out there. I really, really doubt Bethesda would ruin the quality of their sandbox by not giving us the cities-and-ruins-and-dungeons-packed Skyrim we've seen in lore.

Agreed,

The towns won't be as fleshed out as they probably are in lore because they need to downsize the world for their games to ever be released but I doubt they'll remove whole towns just because they're lazy.

I wouldn't want to go against lore or anything, but I would prefer if there were only like 4-5 major cities. Cities that are built like actual ones, not like the ones in oblivion. Then some of the other cities could be built more like the ones in oblivion, or just towns and villages.

'These are the towns we decided to build. Dragons destroyed the rest' <-Bethesda being creative with the lore.

I just hope those cities will feel like true cities, where one can actually spend some time and do a couple of quests without having to leave the city. I liked that about Morrowind - although the quests were rather small, most of the guilds had quests that took place in the same city they were given to you. Or at least in a village close-by. It made the world larger, in a way, to be able to spend so much time in the game without even seeing the rest of the world. It's the Balmora effect... many players actually got stuck there, and it became their favorite town simply because it was the first one they encountered, and there was so much to do!

This I think is very important, keep players in the same town for even a short while and they start to develop an emotional response to the place. Love it or hate it, they remember it which aids attachment and immersion.

I don't care about the size of the map so much as I care about the density of the locations in it. I want it to be like Morrowind where I'll leave a location only to find another one in less than 30 seconds. And I don't mean just being able to see one in the distance, I mean actually being there. What made Morrowind feel so big for me was that I was constantly stopping every few seconds to explore something new. It took me hours upon hours to walk east along the coast from Vivec to the other side of Vvardenfell because I was constantly getting side-tracked. I want the same thing to happen again in Skyrim.

So yeah, that's what I want. And personally, I'd love it if there was a Thieves Guild in every major city, with their own fences. I can understand that Fighters Guild and Mages Guild would give out quests on a more global scale, but a Thieves Guild should mainly concern itself with local business, and shouldn't make you go to a completely different city in order to sell your loot (higher ranks are an exception of course, because the higher the rank, the more political and influential your thievery should become... gosh I'm so Morrowind-influenced)

The Balmora effect... I know exactly what you mean. Balmora is my favorite city in Morrowind, because not only was it the first city I entered, it was large and teeming with quests. Morrowind did a grand job of having a small amount of land and a large amount of content, and Balmora is a wonderful example of this. Balmora was always my home city, and part of the reason I almost always went with house Hlaalu.

The far eastern edge of Skyrim alone has 8 settlements. Riften and Windhelm being the large ones.

And what about Dragonstar? Half of it, unless that whole situation has been worked out by now, is in Skyrim.

I think this would work with the terrain because I can see individual faction split off because of the wintery land scape.

Even If they do implement all of the cities and towns, I have a gut feeling that many resources will be recycled and reused.

Im crossing my fingers here.

That was the plan in Daggerfall, seeing as that encompassed just so many people and places. I wouldn't mind a couple recycled resources, we'll have a modding community to shake it up.

Well what would you prefer? A huge map that is less interactive? Or a smaller map with tons to do?

I would be fine with a map about the size of Oblivion, but much more detailed. And given that they've been working on this game probably 5+ years, I don't think that's unreasonable.

it is likely that the cities will be gone, because it will be like 200 years after Oblivion, and with Oblivion it was the same deal, we lost a lot of cities in there, but really there isn't that many cities in Skyrim

Actually, they've only been fully dedicated to this for about 2-3 years, remember Fallout 3?
I would personally prefer a smaller map with lots to do, but a large map would be fine - as long as it was interesting.

No we didn't. We didn't lose any cities from MW to OB, unless you count Sutch, but that was never around before OB. However, your point about losing cities may be reasonable, because the trailer implied that there were wars going on, so we may see some cities fall and some rise.
