Wait... PlanetElderScrolls/Tamriel Rebuilt is down?

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 11:22 pm

Wait a second... are PES and TR down? Both of them just give error messages saying they are either unavailable or that the "File not found"

What gives?

If PES is down, I still had one mod up there which I didn't retrieve, my Thieves Guild Fences (dealers) mod.

Have there been more hackers?

It is down but maybe just for maintenance or it's been hacked?

Down for good? I sure hope not o_O

I also noticed that it was down just now.

EDIT: My redirects as such: http://maint.ign.com/planet/ which makes me think it's for maintenance.

I try PES, get redirected here: http://maint.ign.com/planet/ so I then go here: http://maint.ign.com/ Some kind of maintenance I guess

As to TR I haven't been able to get there for the past couple of days. But, http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/tamriel-rebuilt.org.

PES looks like its http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com

[Edit: damn typo]

Well, just as long as they are both just for maintenance. I would be peeved if I had to reupload all my mods!

Well, even if you can get to TR, there's nothing interesting to see since the forums and blogs are closed for maintenance purposes. Database and general file backup, so things are put in read-only to prevent modifying the data mid-transfer.

Redundancy, wonderful thing. :D It is too bad that we have been unable to hold on to so many alternatives.

Thank the gods for ElricM and TESNexus, for all that the latter leaks mods like a seive sometimes.
We have become highly dependent on Planet Elder Scrolls though. But it runs very well most of the time.

It looks to be a Gamespy problem. Several other Planet sites are down, such as Planet Halo and Planet Call of Duty...although Planet Fallout is still working.

I've got no official word yet, but it really looks like it's just a server problem atm. I'll post any more info that I learn.

How so? I was replying to Melchior's post where he said "it works pretty well most of the time".

Meaning Fileplanet doesn't work well most of the time, well at least not lately, with all the download issues people have been having.

First I find out about Filefront going down in less than a week, then I see people here complaining about planet ES and TR being down. Makes me wonder if it's all related. I hope it's not...

Oh noes, it must be conspiracy set forth in motion by the Neverwinter Nights modding community! They want to take Elder Scrolls place as the greatest modable RPG series of all time. Ready your Umbras, Crescent Blades and Fork of Horripilations! :gun:

The site is up again. Go check it out now, because there was no hack, just site maintenance (no, this is for real!).

Well, I respect your freedom to form your own opinion but I think we are pretty lucky to have three larger functioning public download sites, all free which, in my own view, run pretty well almost all the time. Thanks to considerable efforts of the folk who support and administer them gratis, another contribution to this community. So ... I reckon the glass is more than half full. YMMV. ;)

Edit: Good to hear it is back up, as expected. :D

If you guys haven't been paying attention, the world economy is in shambles. I suspect we will have more modding related tragedy in the months and years ahead due to the economy. But I hope I am wrong.

Well, I wasn't talking politics or philisphy or anything, just saying that Fileplanet doesn't always work great. Allthough, I must agree that it's pretty great that we have so much freedom and technology nowdays, I mean, I couldn't live well without computers!

PES is back up, but Tamriel Rebuilt appears to be still down.

SWG, you always upload directly to Fileplanet, which is annoying. Simply uploading via PES works just fine!

Also, Tamriel Rebuilt is changing servers, which is why we're down.

I'm having no issues whatsoever with PES loading. It always takes longer than average (a second or two to load a page), and it's taking maybe 5 seconds today, but it's working pretty well.

I'm getting 30 second waits and more for some links to load - am just used to it being pretty instant so I wondered that's all :)
