Wait- PvP game?

Post » Thu Mar 06, 2014 11:23 am

So I actually came here to ask you guys a quickie, not sure if this is the proper place but whatever.

I really keep hearing everywhere I know keep saying that this game is focused around PvP rather than PvP, and even worse that the high level of end-game for this game is PvP based.

I was surprised initially because honestly I and a couple of other friends made our pre-orders simply because it has Elder Scrolls in the title and Skyrim with me playing together with my wife and so othe mates sounded terrific.

Now obviously if the game were that intent on making me PvP to get to the optimal end-game which I'm sure we all know just makes no sense, but that there is no raiding.

I did a little google search and I saw an article, but I can't post links...it's a massively article though, and it is titled

"tamriel-infinium-does-the-elder-scrolls-online-revolve-around-pvp"

And a couple of the stuff said here just makes me shudder.

Honestly I'm just not one for PvP- did I really just pay for a game that I'll be strongly encouraged to PvP in =\?

Buyer's remorse I guess, please tell me so however because at this point I think I can still cancel my pre-order.

I would say that the game is:

PVP - 33%

PVE - 67%

You don't need to PVP. But It's AWESOME, you should try. I wasn't much into PVP in MMORPG, but ESO totally made me change my mind.

PVP is totally optional and end game content doesn't requires you to pvp.

End-game has two major focuses: PvE (adventuring) and PvP (Cyrodiil). This is in direct contrast with most other MMOs where PvP is just "something you can do."

Its all nonsense. Tons of PvE, even in the PvP zone. There will be endgame PvE. It will be no more PvP focusd than any other mmo.

What kind of end-game PVE? Will it be 24 man raids?

I like being able to roam Cyrodiil with a buddy, and choose whether or not to engage in PvP... of course PvP can find us, and kill us or we may have to defend ourselves. But that's the fun and risk of traveling Cyrodiil :) and makes the crafting goods found there, more valuable.

It will be your choice.

You can play all the way to level 50 without pvp.

If you do all the quests for your faction, it will run about 200 hours, without pvp. The you can do the faction quests in another faction's area for another 200 hours of content, then do the quests in the third faction's area for another 200 hours.

You can go to Cyrodiil, the pvp area and only do the dungeons and other quests there without intentionally doing pvp, although you can be attacked by the other faction's players while you are there.

The gear you get from pve is the same, stat-wise, as the gear from pvp, so you aren't losing out on anything, according to the devs.

If you aren't sure, you could always wait until the game is out and check player reviews and youtube to see whether you are interested or not.

There is plenty (PLENTY) of PvE and there will be end game zones and 'raids.' PvP is like, a totally optional thing, that happens in a separate loadable zone. I don't think you really get anything from it that you can use in PvE, since the perks you win there only relate to PvP. (Someone correct me if I am wrong.) Some people just really like the idea of using PvP as an end-game state, I guess because player vs player adds a challenge you can't get in PvE, and because PvP is basically a game that is constantly changing moment to moment, and in that sense, may be more interesting than raiding.

Even if you hate PvP, do give ESO's version of it a try. I expect I will be doing both PvE and PvP pretty evenly at end game.

No worries! There is a lot of similar atmosphere as is in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Some do criticize the ESO and some think it is waste of time but I think this is a MMO that will deliver the goods it promises. If you want to try this game in the upcoming beta tests I have 2 beta keys that someone could use. Tried to give them to people but no one was interested. Just PM me and I will mail you the codes when I get them to the next beta.

This "there is no end-game PvE / PvP content" is just ridiculous. Who would be so stupid that he would make MMO without end-game content ?? Think with your brain maaan.

I believe its scheduled to be 12 mans so far. However you can group up to 24 man so hopefully we will get larger content in the future.

This is an adventure zone.

Suprice ist not an raid dungeon, its an actual zone who itself contains dungeons.

There's something called veteran levels once you reach 50, it is basically an alternate way of levelling (and alternate levelling was one of the things that the daddy of all MMO's - EQ - did really well). I will admit I haven't exprienced it myself since the stress testing weekends are based on teen content but I have high hopes for it.

Also ZOS is going to do regular DLC as well in the form of new content to the game once it goes live.

Ok well you guys eased my worries somewhat =)! Now to see how my wife feels when she reads this, fingers crossed.

The thing is, however, I read a couple of other posts in other forms of feedback and the thing that keeps popping up is apparently there'll be some kind of PvP reward that gives you an overall5% extra damage on everything everywhere? Is there any truth to this?

And I appreciate you guys trying to help me enjoy the PvP, but I can;t. Literally. Physically. Have you ever had a phobic reaction? Hands shaking, nausea, hard to breathe? Yeah, that's what PvP does to me and my wife. Can't physically stand it, literally.

Have they really said that?

Beacuse i all i can recall from interviews when they get the questions about raids is an awnser that goes something like"We have large adventure zones that accomodate several groups" which to me says: NO RAIDS but look at this!

Woah woah, wait, so end-game PvE is...what?

Like what does adventuring mean? Like are there bosses, server firsts to strive for, or...

I guess what I'm basically asking for is what's the server/game competitive aspect of PvE in this game? Is it achievments, overall kills, or whatever?

Yes.

Undisclosed. There are theories - but all we have been told is that their code name is "adventuring." On top of that there is the raiding.

And this happens when trolls are running rampart: genuine players looking for a clue on the forum are misleaded.

There is plenty of PvE in this game, dont worry. ;)

You can go to the official Elderscrollsonline site and look for information in the knowledge base. Do a search.

How has The Elder Scrolls Online handled their end game?
Updated 02/20/2014 07:22 AM Published 01/24/2013 09:05 AM

Some information about end game content of The Elder Scrolls Online has been revealed:

  • Small group end-game: Master dungeons. Players will go through dungeons which are more difficult to do progressively. Also we have Adventure Zones where there are large swaths of area just for the smaller group.
  • PvP caters to groups of all sizes. The beauty of Cyrodiil is the size allows for lots of different sizes of group activity down to solo. However, we do pinpoint the hotspot on the players' map for them, which means if a sizeable fight is going on, they will see it dynamically appear on your map.
  • ESO features so many player skills (weapon, armour, abilities, perks) that players will be levelling them long after they hit the level 50 ‘cap’.
  • Players can go and explore the wilder parts of Tamriel, where our long-term PvE content is based.
  • As players will be able to have characters in all three alliances and as they can also play one character through the content of the other alliances; the content will scale up to their characters level. This means that there is no need to create an alt to experience all the PvE goodness the game has to offer.
  • There’s 50 levels and also lots of skill lines to fill out. Every player can be every armor type and use every type of weapon and those are all skill lines to fill out. There’s also Mage’s Guild and Fighter’s Guild skill lines.
    • So the level cap is just one aspect of it. Within an Alliance, like within the Daggerfall alliance’s territory, it’s about 120-200 hours’ worth of content, depending on how much of the world players explore.

What's that supousdeto mean? I'm assuming it's not adventure zones since that already was mentioned in another paragraf.

Holy crap that looks awesome. An entire zone as a branching multi-dungeon raid is a great concept.
