Wait until DLCG.E.C.K. are released?

Post » Tue Feb 23, 2016 1:13 am

In a bit of a pickle. I'm currently at Synth Retention in the main storyline at level 60-65, with the rest of the game mostly complete. All but one companion has been recruited, thousands of each kind of material collected, 20 suits of power armor gathered, most settlements customized and inhabited, etc. Should I wait to finish the game?

Maybe wait for Automatron, complete the game, then start again with Far Harbor?

No. None of the dlc that is forthcoming will be tied to the MQ series. You can finish the MQ and still do all of the dlc afterwards.

I decided to start a new character that I'll do the DLC's with.

The game gets way too easy above level 60, when you have all the tools that you want, all the perks, unlimited ammo, fully upgraded Power Armor.

I think it's more fun to play the DLCs 'within' a playthrough, instead of playing them after you've finished everything else and completed the 'leveling'. :D

I have several lv 50-70 characters I will likely use for Far Harbor. Probably my current gal as she is a lot of fun.

But what are you waiting to do until the G.E.C.K comes out?

Agreed. I guess I'll make another character later on.

Anything, really. I'd rather improve the game with mods early on in a playthrough, instead of near the middle or end.

There's already plenty of good mods released that adds quite a bit. I currently got 45 mods. All carefully selected with a good load order and haven't had a single mod related issue or conflict.

But of course it's not quite the same as what can be done with the geck but it certainly makes for a different playthrough. Unless you're on console ofc, then carry on waiting.

There are some very cool mods out already. I will be honest I was waiting for G.E.C.K. as well but gave up waiting.

I can understand that but I'm still too traumatized from my pre Creation kit Skyrim mods experience to not wait.

There's really no need to wait since the game doesn't end. I'll probably end up starting a new game with each major DLC release. By the time the last DLC comes out I'll probably be so sick of playing the game that I'll have to wait a year or more to replay it and be able to enjoy it again.

What the hell is wrong with the Howard Factory, don't they ever learn? You would expect the GECK to be pre-made and included with the game.

By the time Far Harbor is actually released, I may have already started a third character. My first character got to level 95 before getting retired. My current character is at level 119 now, and I'm down to nothing more than a few miscellaneous tasks and things like collecting the few magazines I'm missing. I'll probably get bored and start a new character sometime before Far Harbor comes out, so I might just incorporate it into a different play through.

In a way I wouldn't mind waiting until all of the bigger story DLC is out and then just playing it all for the first time with a new character. But it's probably gonna be a solid 1-1.5 years before it's all released, and I don't think I'll be able to wait that long lol

Two theories.

One - It'd mess with their dlc sales. Things like robot creation or workshop mods already have some very stiff competition, even without the kit right now. If that kit were out, the value of those dlc would be in even more question.

Two - Its delayed because of consoles. They might still be trying to work out some horrible interface with their console modding scheme, or waiting on Microsoft/etc to get their act together.

one - This is always a false assumption that quite a few make. They have said on numerous occasions that this is not the case and is evidenced by the number of DLC they released after the toolset was released.

two - Consoles have nothing to do with the toolset, they aren't trying to make it work on or get permission to put it on the consoles. What might have been a bit of the delay is integrating Bethesda.net into the tool instead of Steam Workshop. Bethesda.net is still not fully functional yet either, so they may actually be waiting till that gets fully realized.

Not necessarily false. I could make the argument that the dlc that was released in previous games was far more quest based. While the first two dlcs for fallout 4 sounds more like a melding of popular user created mods. I am not necessarily against this mind you. Given the tools and time they have they can likely make it far more seamlessly then you or I.

Two - Pardon me if I am wrong, but you sort of just contradicted yourself here. From what I understand console users will download mods from beth.net. So if they are delaying the construction kit for that, yes consoles are to blame. Steam workshop was never actually part of the kit before, and its unlikely most pc users will bother with it over say, nexus.

I suppose in an indirect way console mod use could be a contributing factor, but not only consoles will be downloading mods, PC users will also since Bethesda isn't using Steam Workshop for this game (they did for Skyrim and it's still heavily used). I think we are going to get slammed with a whole ton of stuff all at once early next month, web site, toolset, patch with survival revamp, and then right after the first dlc. Just a hunch.

Yeah I get that feeling as well. Lots of irons in the fire for them. Add in the season pass price rising by the end of the month..

If they actually want pc users to use that website though I hope it performs much better then steams did. Auto updating mods was a seriously bad idea.

well main reason why we are still waiting for the creationkit is simple , nobody would buy these first 2 small DLC s they zre in my opinion nothing more than glorified mods
