Worth the wait? What are you talking about?! The game is releasing a week early!

...

Hmm.

Indeed that was most welcome news.

I think it would be interesting to see the reactions of the community towards the game when they finally get their hands on it. :hehe:

I ponder this sometimes, myself. I see a lot of flagrant fanboyism here, and I'm not opposed to people getting excited about Brink, but this is a game that hasn't been released and about which the developers say a lot of cool things that can be misleading. There are people who think it's a parkour simulator, people who think it's an open-world sandbox, etc., and if they buy it under that type of impression, they're going to be upset. There are people who won't react well to SD's ideas of fairness, balance, and novice-friendliness (these ideas are what appeals to me most about the developer) because they're used to FPSes having frustrating elements that they put up with because of the times they get to be on the trigger end. The first time a player watches a grenade go off under his enemy's feet and the enemy doesn't die, that player is probably going to call shenanigans.

Honestly, I am glad a big publisher like Bethesda is putting its weight behind an innovative studio like Splash Damage. I feel like the game isn't about the sleek visuals and character customisation, but those traits are going to help it sell, and if a lot of people play Brink, the standards for shooters are going to change. IMO, for the better.

Well I mean the devs have been straightforward to what this game is. H0RSE even made the compendium to fill us in. With the internet and info that can be found, its hard to imagine that people not understand what this game is about.

I think about this too, and I know it's going to happen and it makes me upset and disappointed, since a little research into what the game is about could avoid the confusion and letdown that people are inevitably going to experience.

However, I also think that after time, some of those people will "get it" and begin to understand what Brink is and begin to enjoy it.

Even with the information laying right infront of us there are still a multitude of interpretations. SD has done a great deal to invite in the widest range of FPS players, and yet there are still plenty of people who have read the stuff, even going so far as to quote developers, that insist that one type of player, one role, one group will be the one to be or will be completely excluded.

There's no way to get everyone to see what Brink is without putting it in their hands, and probably not even then.

Well, I won't rage quit when I get OHK'd in Brink, as I'll know to report that person for HAX.

Well, technically, if you have a higher dmg weapon and it is buffed, and you headshot a light? Possibly a OHK, but I don't think its auto-death. More like auto-incap.

Unbuffed light die from headshots. I mean get incapped. If some one straight up dies from a shot there are hax at work.

If a game where it doesn't have one hit kill to the head from a sniper, so what? The game isn't trying to be realistic, it's trying to be FUN. That's one thing alot of shooters miss, having fun with the game. The game is based around strategy anyways, plus I don't see alot of snipers in the future since alot of the maps are linear it seems.

When I feel like getting kills, I'll get an assualt rifle or submachine gun, hold my fire, then pick off the ones who get sniped and shotgunned.

Allied Snipers and Shottiefans, you tag 'em, I'll bag 'em.
