Walking, sleeping, and role playing

As I've said in some of my previous posts, the thing I am looking forward to the most in New Vegas is the hardcoe mode. I love the fact that we now have to sleep, eat and drink. I did that in Fallout 3 to make the game more realistic and challenging. I play on a 360 so mods were not an option. Everything I did was self-imposed.

While I'm excited about what New Vegas has to offer, I have to say that I am concerned about one thing. I like to walk everywhere I go, and sneak is my most used tactic. I like to avoid fights whenever possible. However, with the fact that we now need to sleep, how often will we be required to do so? I'm only concerned about this because since the game is time-scaled, it might screw up the flow and pace of the game.

It would take me 3-4 in-game days to actually walk across the map on Fallout 3. If I am doing this on Fallout: New Vegas I don't want to have to sleep too often. I'm hoping that there are no negative affects until we've been up for somewhere between 24-48 hours. Hopefully someone with the game can give some insight on this. Again, I don't play on a PC so mods are out of the question.

I was wathcing game reviews, and it said somewhere that you WILL have negative effects from not eating, Drinking etc. and eventually die.

So if you get dehydrated your will become slower or less accurate at aiming or whatever skill sets relate to it.

Hopefully you get some kind of adrenalin rush when you are in combat to keep you from having sudden effects. But i doubt it.

Yes, I know this. I think maybe my question was not very clear. I'm wondering how often we need to sleep. Simply because I actually walk most places I go. This means that if I walk to one destination for a quest or whatever, I might have to find a place to sleep too often. It would take me one or two in-game days to walk from one place to another in Fallout 3. I just don't want to have to sleep every 12 hours.

Are we going to have any kind of cot or sleeping bag to allow the user to sleep out in the wilderness or will we have to find a bed every time?

I don't know for sure how its going to work but i doubt that they would make you spend more than 4-6hrs game time for every 24hrs to get all your sleeping and eating/drinking out of the way. They want the game to be immersive not tedious.

I read in the wiki (so it might even be true) that popping a soda can reduce your need for sleep and the expense of lowering your hydration level (from the sugar and caffeine). So yeah, if your character is out in the desert and feeling sleepy, a Nuka might help keep his eyes open long enough to fend off that radscorpion. But then he might have other problems.

Don't worry, sleeping isn't that big of a deal. In order of urgency it goes
H20
Food
sleep

Plus there are some foods that wake you up. There effects might be temporary though, I never used them.

I remember reading (though I may be wrong) that you cannot fast travel anywhere if you would die of dehydration/hunger/sleep deprivation had you walked there. So since everyone playing hardcoe will basically have to sleep as much as you, it probably won't be that often. If they made it realistic, you probably have to sleep at least every 24 hours without major side effects. I also think I read that sleep is the least of you worries, really, and the fatigue bar (or stat or whatever) drains the slowest out of everything.

I am unsure if any of you remember in one of they video talk about FO:NV that there be camp fire throughout the whole map where you can create and combine your weapons and other thing.
So to answer some of your question. Yes there will be a few spot where you can sit and rest! :D Hope that help.
