[PROBZ] Walking on the Spot - NPCs

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 11:18 pm

Very interesting information.

I just checked and I have the same two KF files, which are installed as part of Roberts Male Body Replacer v4.0 in my case - never used AMB. I am going to change the BAIN package to exclude the Idle.KF file based on the comments people have made.

Many thanks for starting this thread - it has something that has been mildly irritating in my game, but which I never investigated.

The problem has completely gone for me now, also tried the same on the desktop setup removing those files (noted above I can disregard trying to figure out which one it is and just exclude the idle.kf in _male - Thank you for the input).

Glad the topic helped a fair few people, seems like it is information that may have been known at one time but got lost along the way and the same files have carried forward in different iterations of Roberts male - I did quite a bit of searching before posting and could not find anything that matched. The only thing that gave me a clue was remembering from experimenting with animation sequences on old programs like Sculpt3D on the amiga, where the timing of one animation looping can have a knock on effect in transition to another animation.

And obviously Andalaybay's comparison Load Order was a big help to narrow down the source.

If Malonn pops in - Check out the fifth post in this topic mate, and Belanos follow up pointing out the culprit of those two files, if Room207 gets round to updating it will affect your hosted version of AMB BAIN on TESNexus too. Might be worth while in the meantime just adding a note for users that those idles can cause moon walking NPCs.

Edit: Better if I just post on the file page.

Edit2: If anyone is in contact with AlienSlof, could you give her a heads up and point at this topic - Considering she has exclusive permission to host Rob Male v5 on her own site, and maybe at Wolflore?

Well I definitely want to thank everyone who contributed to this thread, I hadn't ever really tried to fix the issue until I came across the information here. While it didn't occur that often, it was very likely the most "immersion-breaking" problem I had going in my game. Exemplary thread!!!!!!

 I still haven't had a chance to do more testing, but it sounds like we've got this one tracked down.

AlienSlof's website has moved due to fire at the hosting services she was using. Anyway if you do a search, you should be able to find her new hive. I sent her a note to see if she'd be interested in having a look, but I don't think she does animation - I'm not sure. So I've contacted Room207 and Slof. If I hear back from Slof, I'll at least give her the details of the issue.

I also thank you and everybody VERY MUCH! This problem has plagued my game for ages but I never took the time to try to fix it, assuming it was some error due to my mod developer setup. It's nice to know this problem wasn't just happening to me.

Agreed completely!! Amazingly what we'll put up with when the fix is so simple yet so elusive.

I heard back from AlienSlof. She can't do the fix herself, but she heard from Robert recently so she will see if he's willing to have a look. She's not sure if he's returning to modding, but she'll ask.

Huh, I've always used Robert's anims and never noticed this bug.
Good to know he's still alive. :)

There's nothing that needs fixing really, just remove idle.kf mesh from the package. It won't interfere with the mod one bit not having it there. I've certainly never noticed any problems since removing it, and that was years ago.

Update on this topic - Malonn has updated the BAIN version of AMB with a note for users - until Room207 gets round to having a look.

But I dont think Room207s version of it has changed since. I think he is too busy RL

Malonn is hosting a version on a different page to Room207's - Cant link, advlt content, but in the description of Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide on TESNexus I have a link near the bottom of the BAIN list.
