tx_mh_wall_01.dds

I've been trying some different Mournhold texture replacers and I noticed one thing was always the same with all of them, the walls on all of the buildings always used the vanilla textures. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p35/Bycote/MGEScreenshot4.jpg. As you can see, all of my textures are replaced except for the walls of the building itself.

But in screen shots on PES, the wall textures actually change. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/Image.php?id=77274 http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/Image.php?id=31451.

I was wondering, do the wall textures change for other people when they install these texture replacers? If they work right for everybody else, then I guess I somehow just got a quirky Tribunal.bsa file. But if there are other people out there who have this same problem, I have a suggestion for a fix. After you install your texture replacer, simply use a program like http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/bulk_file_changer.html to hack the dates on the tx_mh_wall_01.dds file to be in the future (I dated mine 2015) and then the new texture will show up in game.

Now, I would like a more "permanent" solution than this since this fix has to be re-applied any time you replace the texture. So, using my same idea as before, I thought I would extract the Tribunal.bsa file, redate the offending texture to be very old, then repack a new Tribunal.bsa file. Unfortunately, the BSA Browser utility errors out whenever I try to unpack the Tribunal.bsa file or pack the raw data files on the Tribunal.bsa disc. I really have to go to bed now so I'm gonna stop thinking and just ask, does anybody have any ideas?

Check the date on your tribunal.bsa - all files within a bsa archive inherit the datestamp of the bsa and will override loose files in the folders. Your best solution is to redate the tribunal.bsa to its original date - 10/29/2002 8:22pm to be exact (the modify date is what's most important here; you could also redate the creation date if desired, but the modified date is what influences how Morrowind gives priority to the files contained in the archive).

You should also check the dates for any other bsa archives you might have that could include that texture - you'll need to redate those bsas to an earlier date than the replacement texture (I would think year 2003 should do it for most cases).

I might have mentioned in my first post that the modified date on the Tribunal.bsa file was 2002, while the dates on the new texture files are all much newer. But it's a darn good thing I didn't because then I never would have tried to redate the Tribunal.bsa file. Pointless as it seemed to redate it from 2002 to 2002, it actually worked. Heh, I guess I'll never know what the problem was. Oh well, thanks again tetchy! :^)

Hehe, I should really stop trying to use my brain right when I wake up and right before I go to bed. I realized while I was driving a couple hours after I made that post that Tribunal.bsa was not the cause of my problems. As mentioned, my Tribunal.bsa was already dated 2002. When I redated my Tribunal.bsa file, I also redated my TR_Data.bsa file and *that* was the cause of my problems. I was using the bsa file distributed with TR Map 1 and it looks like they accidentally included some resources in there that they shouldn't have. I have now downloaded Map 2 and installed its bsa, which does not contain this texture. Problem solved. :^)
