"Walled Cities with loading" -> NO LEVITATE?

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:57 pm

So you were okay with only Mages being able to bypass a good portion of the game and go godmode vs melee enemies?

And you're ok with being able to sneak past enemies without them seeing you whilst you can get off high stealth attacks, and kill people before they even get near, with ranged? Wow, that's such cheating, I mean, using your skills as an advantage over an NPC's weakness? The nerve..

[/sarcasm]

It's the exact same thing. I'm not saying levitation doesn't need to be looked at. It does. We need it to be harder to cast/cost more to cast/be weak on enchantments, if at all. I levitate to get away from an enemy, and blast off a few spells. It's merely balance. (they also need to be encouraged to use less armour. I actually liked how Oblivion handled it, but it should have been more prominent, imo)

Mages may be able to beat melee only characters like this.

But that's what VERSITILITY is for. Melee characters aren't the only ones in the game. Most melee characters should have the ability to use some kind of ranged weapon.

Off game design =/= broken gameplay design.

So Todd confirmed in an interview that there WILL be some walled cities that require loading, I am taking this as basically a confirmation that there will not be any levitating, since one would not be able to levitate over those cities' walls.

To me this is a HUGE blow to what could have been an even cooler game. Granted I'll still get it, but it just won't be the same having to walk all over the place. Unlike many, I was very much for levitation, even with all the npc A.I. issues and the game breaking nature of levitation coupled with intelligence boosting potions or levitation + boots of blinding speed.

Although it is still unconfirmed, I don't see much hope for this feature... What do you guys think?

Levitating is a bunch of silly [censored] imo. I know what, we will just hover above enemies as the helplessly stare at us. Although to fix the problem they could made it so everyone can levitate, then it will all end up being some [censored] sky world with floating humans everywhere. Its a stupid idea and I have no idea why its so supported, its the justin bieber thing.

You should really read a thread before posting these kind of things.
Everything you mentioned has been adressed and its like were back on page 1.

And it wont hurt if you use some better language either :/

Levitation would be awesome in combat etc. But it should be VERY expensive and a very high level perk/skill. But there is the risk that it might make the game feel cheaper if you exploit it and the AI doesn't know how to handle it. I don't agree with axing it just because of mountain vistas however lol.

Maybe Levitation and Slowfall should be made together as a single spell in alteration. So it only turns into levitation with enough skill.
