Walmart gipped me?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:43 am

is this possible? says they don't have enough in supply that there's a supply issue, how is it possible too run outta supply with a game i pre-ordered and hasn't even been released?
so my question is mainly this, should i just go somewhere else or is it just gonna delay my pre-order bonus,i mean am i gonna lose my bonus entirely or, what?

if this is locked for some reason and your reading this pls IM me with answer, if there isn't one already.

By definition: pre-order is an order placed for an item which has not yet been released. The idea for pre-orders came when people found it hard to get popular items in stores due to their popularity. Companies were then given the idea to allow people to reserve their own personal copy, before the release, which has been a huge success. Pre-orders allow consumers to guarantee prompt delivery on release, manufacturers can gauge how much demand there will be and hence how large initial production runs should be, and sellers can be assured of minimum sales. Additionally, high pre-order rates can be used to generate publicity to further increase sales.

They just can't cancel it. If you bring this up to the store manager, and they still refuse you a copy call the Headquarters and cite this, and if they still refuse to give you the preorder? You'd have a grounded base for a civil courts claim, because YOU did pay already for it with either YOUR, or YOUR parents money, and they cannot just say "thanks for the money! *YOINK*"

It's spelled gypped, and not many people seem to realize it's a racial slur against gypsies. Just letting you know for the future.

derogatory not racist. Gypsies are not a race and do not have a homeland, but they are deemed a class or a function, but the message is the same....Don't call people bad names, mmmmk?

This.

Walmart is a horrible company. I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to rip the OP off in some way. I worked there for 2 years and it was just pathetic. Some employees were told to turn in any items that were left in baskets by customers. Not so the customer could reclaim their lost item, but so the store could re-stock and re-sell it!

I want the Spec-Ops pack (currently getting Doom) but, I honestly don't even want to walk into another Walmart for the rest of my life.

Oh, and just something I noticed. If you look on the Sloani mask's mouth, it has the new Walmart star on it lol.

When did you order? I pre-ordered from Walmart.com 5 days ago and my order is still open.

EDIT:

You're right. That's pretty funny. Oh well, I didn't like the mask to begin with.

It probably changed due to the apparent change in release date.

When did you pre-order it?

Also, did they offer to refund your money if that's the case?

I pre-ordered last month and the only thing I got was an email of them pushing my delivery date and they offered to refund my money if I choose to cancel. Now with this recent new release date, I may end up in the same boat as you.
If they canceled my pre-order, I would call and ask for a refund.

Thats only true if they actually took their money. Most stores don't charge you for a preordered game until its actually shipped, in case something like this happens.

Well if he asks for a refund and it is refuted, then it should still stand.

I think my Wal-Mart charged me recently, but I'm going to have to make calls and find out.

They have to let you move your pre-order to a store that'll have it in stock.

Actually, if we want to get really technical in our terminology...Gypsy is the derogatory/slang and gyp is a word based out of the term.

But this is why I don't preorder anything until a week or two before release.

They would not just randomly charge you, that is why you put money down on the game when you preorder it.
Like $5, and then the game is reserved for you!

They only do that when you preorder with cash. When you preorder over the internet, they have your credit/debit card number, so they can charge you whenever they like and send it to you.

Again, unless OP says that he has actually had money taken from him, there is no legal issue here. He could still try to contact a store manager and see what they have to say.

The reason this happened is BECAUSE he waited so long to preorder.

I disagree, I think this happened because Walmart always has trouble with pre-orders when the dates change and the system failed to understand the date being moved up so at the moment they don't think they'll have any stock.

Now I suppose it would depend on where he lives. The reason I wait is because I have never seen a game sell out in the area I live in, it heps that I have at least 6 GS, 2 BB, 2 Targets, 2 Walmarts, 2 K-Marts and a handful of other places with in 7 miles of my home, and there's always enough to go around (plus the pre-order often gets better the closer to release you get).

Correct, that's why I'm not saying "SUE FIRSTS ASK FER GAMEZ LATOR!"
Because 1) That's poor spelling, which I try to avoid
and 2) We do need to know if OP did preorder with money...Well did you OP?

to answer any further questions -when did i order- -did they already accept money-

i pre-ordered around February or so.

they checked if i could afford by taking 60$ but then put it back until 17th so it shouldn't be a money issue until 17th if there is one.

sorry for who ever gypsies are on here for the name and no i didn't know it was spelled gypped was late and was annoyed at W*M no offence i just knew it was a largely known way to say they ripped me off. ohh, i laugh because of the pain...

no money was taken but they did say and confirm that i have a copy personally reserved so at the least bit they stole my copy of Brink w/ Exclusive.

thnx for all the concerns people, i hope to see you on the ark. (on my team i mean. :P )

I don't buy games from wally world anymore. But Gamestop has been pretty reliable to me so far. Even though I wanted the Fallout pack.
