Wands In Skyrim

Post » Wed Aug 03, 2011 4:32 am

There are one handed staves now correct?

what's the difference? practically?

I think "wand" sounds.... cliche and extremely cheesy. I'll take a staff over a wand any day of the week.

I agree but would like the know the difference between a one-handed and two-handed staff? It's a staff a staff?

Staffs are our wands. I just watched that E3 video game footage again and dual wielding staff and sword blew my mind.

And let's not insult Harry Potter. Too soon

Wands are the Homosixual cousins of Staves. Keep Harry Potter away from My ES.

How? I could say that daggers are the homosixual cousins of swords, so I don't want 'em. In what way are wands "homosixual"?

lol whats with all the potter hate? im not really a fan at all but you gotta admit, they made wands look pretty badass in the new movie

When your attacks depends of having a stick (no wand, no spells) in your hand and say the correct words (if you say them wrong, this not work or happens something totally different), losing time casting when you can just hit the enemy with a fireball just using your hands, it does not look badass to me.

By the way, you can beat any wizard of the harry potter movies with a gun and using your mouth just to say the famous CatchPhrase "hasta la vista, baby" or a glorious "this is the part where you fall down and bleed to death"

Finally some one mentions Willow up in this...but alas...no.

To the HELLS no. I think of Merlin from Disney...and as bad ass as Merlin was...no.

Please no...
-----------
On another standpoint: if it doesn't break the game, then by all means for the Harry Potter Fans to get their kicks. I already know the people who want wands are on that kick.

Nobody looks at Willow and says I WANT A WAND! YEA!

Wands, pointy hats, flying unicorns, charming powder... those things could only be apropiate for a children RPG. Wands aren't lame because of Harry Potter. Harry Potter looks lame because of wands.

Maybe wands could be to staffs, what daggers are to swords. Weaker, but faster.

Funny how so many bag using wands because their aren't manly enough but will speak for hours on the "who are you going to marry?" thread.

you can kill anyone using a staff with a gun too. whats your point

Eh, no. Staffs are cooler and fit with the flavor of Skyrim better.

I wouldn't mind wands if they were implemented right. The wand could have an enchantment of so many uses like staffs but instead of doing actual damage it could fortify your damage for a certain element, or give you more magicka, like an accessory would do.

Wands are for Harry Potter and old Disney films. Any serious mage wields a staff, at least one that isn't a closet child molester like Voldemort. He is childs play (pun hehe) compared to characters like Gandalf or Elrond.

Poll is broken. "Wands" are already in the game. Todd calls them one-handed staves.

You can see him talking about them right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic6dKnv3WdU&t=9m14s. He refers to them as staves in every demo interview, hence why I put "wands" in quotes. I've even time stamped the video for you, so just click and listen for four seconds. I hope that everyone can calm down. This is what Bethesda is handing you, if you don't think it's manly to carry a staff in one hand, then carry one with both instead.

Edit: messed up the link formatting. Corrected.

Staves is plural for staff, not a wand. And what makes you think a full size staff can't be held in one hand? They're roughly the size of a walking stick, nowhere in the rulebook of staves does it say thay must be held with two hands. They were two handed in Oblivion, not Skyrim. The light spell he casts in the cave is a full size staff in one hand, not a damn wand.

I'd prefer wands to staves, unless they fix the staves so that you hold them like an actual staff and not carry them across your back. I always thought that looked stupid. I don't want a big bulky hunk of wood on my back. I want to hold it like a walking stick -- the way one would actually carry it when not in combat.

Never once in all of fantasy have I seen a wizard with a staff lashed to his back.
