Me want dune buggy

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:00 am

I'm not here to debate if people want vehicles in fallout 4, my question is: will there be drive-able vehicles in fallout 4?

I saw the promo about calling in a Vertibird and I understand how driving around the rubble could be problematic for the game, but what about a motorbike, a quad, a flippin' mule train? Anything to carry around my crap....

I guess a bicycle would be anticlimactic isn't it? XD

Edit: Hell, even the tires would burst out first! Hahahaha

Beth has stated there won't be drivable cars in the game. But, considering their are vertibirds, jetpacks, and such, I would be surprised if a mod for drivable vehicles didn't come out within a couple months of the CK's release.

I could see the point of Bethesda not making drive-able cars though...

Besides that they allow us to make mods, they also want us to stroll and enjoy every point of interest and landmark in the wasteland...

After all, if you drive a car, wouldn't you miss some interesting places if you drive too fast/simply to get to point A to point B?

It's always fun to find new things when walking in the wasteland ^_^

Yes, that's true I agree; but I had so much fun in Half-Life 2 with the water sled and then the buggy, then the hot rod... I just want to build a big set of ramps in my settlement and light er up!

Yup, and don't forget Borderlands where you can pretty much roadkill and blast those skags with your buggy-mounted rocket launcher!

Yes, it's fun though, but I'm afraid most will not agree with you and me ^^' Even the new crafting system is a very very drastic change to Fallout as it turns it into Fallcraft or Deathclaw Crossing (which I really, really appreciated)....

But I really do hope if someone would make a mod if this is not possible... and link that mod to the new crafting system.

Just imagine a terrific plasma-spewing high-octane ghoul-shredding buggy...

*sigh* it's most likely only possible as a mod though...

You better not settle for anything less than an Interceptor (last of the V8's you know).

Nah but really I'd be happy treking around on the back of a brahmin... even though cows historicaly make terrible mounts.

It's more viable than riding an over-sized mole rat or even a deathclaw though XD

Plus, you could attach packs over them, andmake it your own pack-brahmin to store your scraps on!

I don't care if all your friends have cars, YOU ARE NOT DRIVING! And don't bother bringing this up with your Mother. She and I are in agreement. We want you safe so you are just going to learn to live with a virtibird.

the world is probably packed full of stuff that would make driving impossible. the game world has to be designed with land vehicles in mind.

"Careful with that button! That's the eject passenger button!"

"HEY! Watch the rotors! Don't poke it with your sledgehammer, you stinking mutant!"

Imagine if Bethesda added dialogues if some of your companions boarded the vertibird XD

Yeah I may have to settle for the pack brahmin... I remember in FO3 a guy modded a hovering lazy boy. the problem was it's speed, really fast, the game world couldn't load fast enough; it was really funny to watch on youtube though.
How 'bout a golf cart with a customized lift kit??? nice and slow yet can handle bumps?

Jeep. :) 4x4, high-clearance, good approach/departure angles, nuclear powered, so that just isn't an issue. (please don't shoot my jeep......) Goes anywhere, and with the jump pack, NO obstacle is too big to tackle. :)

I think I'll pass on vehicles in FO4, they blow up way too easily. And how many raiders have rocket launchers, automatic weapons, and grenades? Add super mutants to that and you'd be blown up every two minutes :D

Well i will be honest and say i always wanted a nice kickass motorcycle in a fallout game, but considering the sizes of Fallout 3 and New Vegas maps, it never realy seemed big enought to validate a vehicle, compared to Fallout 1 & 2 having for their own time quit a huge gameworld to explore.

But you couldn't explore it... you could go from point of interest, to another point of interest. That was it.

Unless they've really gone to work on the physics, then a motorbike would either have to be semi-faked (a creature which looks like a motorbike, but stays upright regardless) or it would have to have something like invisible training wheels to keep it upright.

A dune buggy, though... perhaps that could be done well, with proper wheels, accurate collision and everything :).

I know I'm going to give it a shot, just as soon as we can get new models created and in-game - although that might be some little while :(.

Absolutly true, though it did have gameplay impact. While not visibly traveling faster, the amount of days that passed while you traveled did get less if you had a vehicle. But yes, despite its size (relative to the area of america it was suposed to represent) you coudnt realy explore it indeed.

Eh, the GECK will be released early 2016. But getting models in-game? That could take some while longer. For a long time Skyrim modders had to rely on exporting Fallout 3 models from 3DS Max or Blender, then hand-editing them in NifSkope to be Skyrim compatible.

Fallout 4 is probably going to use a further enhanced, customised and modified version of Skyrim's NIF file format, so unless Bethesda release some model exporter tools then it could be a rather awkward process getting anything to work. Especially as reverse engineering obscure and undocumented file formats and coding exporter plugins aren't exactly jolly pastimes followed by lots of modders :).
